Drops | Hiatus
Drop
We are sorry to see you go! We hope you enjoyed your time in Folkmore. Be aware that if you drop entirely (all characters) from Folkmore you will need to be invited back in.
When a character is dropped, the character will become stardust and return to space. It is unknown if the characters goes home or if they go elsewhere in the universe.
Characters will know when a character has been dropped. They will see their close CR appear to them as a stardust-type ghost, waving, before they vanish. Alternatively, they will see that their Foxi profile is no longer accessible.
Hiatus
Characters on hiatus have two options: they can either go about their daily lives or fall into a deep coma, their bodies shining like starlight, suspended in the air.
We do not allow hiatuses with an estimated period of 3+ months. If you frequently take hiatuses and spend more time on hiatus than in the game, we may ask you to drop until things have cleared up. This is in fairness to other players. We are always willing to make accommodations for unique exceptions: please just let a mod know either on this page or privately.
If on hiatus, the player will not have to check in manually; the mods will take care of it.

(frozen comment) Update
Update Details: Going from patch 6.0 to patch 6.2, so she's (physically) recovered from saving the universe (for the most part), and begun adventuring again. Started investigating the Void again with some of the Scions, also has been helping investigate a dangerous research facility in the past, and also has started an adventure with G'raha where they got to meet part of the Eorzean pantheon. She also was gifted a wholeass tropical island by Tataru, which she has developed over the past few months in her downtime.
Mental or Physical Changes: Having the knowledge that she did, in fact, survive her grievous injuries back home will bring a lot of peace of mind to her. Additionally, outside of the adventures with her friends, her focus has been on improving her crafting ability so that she can better help people rebuild. So overall more at peace with things, and more practiced at just sort of... chilling.

Update Details: Update to patch 3.1, following Archon Quest Chapter III, Act IV and Cyno's Story Quest Lupus Aureus Chapter: Act I. Tighnari's appearance in this patch was fairly minimal, but it is important in keeping him updated on the current movements of his friends and allies in Sumeru. The Traveller meets him at Pardis Dhyai, a research location for the Amurta Darshan where Tighnari is currently caring for a scholar called Haypasia, and he assists them in fleeing from a group of assassins. He then suggests that the Traveller head to Caravan Ribat, while he stays behind to ensure that Haypasia remains stable. He appears at the end of Cyno's story quest to give him some paralyzing traps in the future should he need them, as he had no use for them. Tighnari also reveals to the Traveler and Paimon that he sent his ward Collei out for some ad hoc lectures about the dangers of Canned Knowledge to increase awareness.
Mental or Physical Changes: No changes!

Character Name: Tighnari
Update Details: Update to patch 3.2, Chapter III: Act V - Akasha Pulses, the Kalpa Flame Rises.
Following the events of the 3.1 update, Tighnari stays at Pardis Dhyai tending to Haypasia. While there, he is approached by the Traveller and Dehya asking if he knows anything about the Fatui Harbinger known as The Doctor (Il Dottore). Despite their reluctance to give him all of the details of why they are asking, he agrees to help them with their enquiries and admits that he had been speaking to the man recently - Dottore had been trying to take Haypasia back to Snezhnaya with him, but Tighnari had refused the transfer. He points them in the direction that he had left in not too long ago and they go after him.
The two quickly realise that they have been misled, and return quickly to Pardis Dhyai to find Tighnari in the middle of fighting off a group of Fatui who are trying to take Haypasia by force. The Traveller quickly moves to make sure the woman is still there, and while Dehya and Tighnari are still fighting outside the Traveller converses with Scaramouche, who summons a lightning storm outside to display his power as a new god.
Tighnari is struck by lightning and injured severely enough to cause him obvious physical pain, and though he tries to protest he's fine he eventually relents and agrees to rest while Dehya and the Traveller leave to continue their quest.
Following the conclusion of the main events of the update Tighnari is seen again when the Traveller invites him to a celebration for Cyno's reinstatement as General Mahamatra and he seems to have recovered well, though he is unfortunately too busy to attend the party.
Mental or Physical Changes: Personality-wise Tighnari does not seem to have had any lasting changes, but he will now be sporting a Lichtenberg figure scar which radiates from his left shoulder and across the left side of his chest.

(frozen comment) Re: Update
Character Name: KD6-3.7
Update Details: I would like to update K with some of his memories from Deerington and Deer Country.
I'd like for K to be able to remember his friendship with Manabu Yuuki, who is currently in Folkmore as a Deer Country CRAU, and enough of his memories of Deerington/Deer Country to be able to put it in context and know the memories are real. He canonically has false implanted memories of a life he's never lived, so the distinction will be super important and meaningful to him. This might also help provide a much needed nudge toward achieving personhood here in Folkmore, but I don't intend for it to be a shortcut; I still want to fully play out his personhood arc in Folkmore. As for any other characters K might recognise from Deerington/Deer Country, I'll handle them on a case by case basis according to their players' preferences. Having him manifest his Coldblood abilities from Deer Country (basic fire, ice, lightning elemental abilities) would be fun to play with too, and since Manabu is also a Coldblood they could commiserate. Basically, all of this is meant to supplement K's development in Folkmore in interesting ways without overwriting any of it.
Mental or Physical Changes: Mentally, he'll be happy to remember Manabu and fascinated by the life he had in an alternate universe. Physically, gaining his Coldblood abilities.

Character Name: Era
Update Details: Buried Memory 6.2 -> Gods Revel, Lands Tremble 6.3
Further investigation into the situation with the Thirteenth (more progress made in terms of understanding Zero, what happened to Vrtra's sister, and Golbez's main goal) and had a brief reunion with the twins in the process that uplifted her spirits, as well as having a chance to bond more with Zero.
Also faced another portion of the Eorzean pantheon in combat and uncovered more about them and their nature, began working with Godbert & Gerolt on relic weapons (after dealing with Hildebrand's latest adventures), and continued improving her overall crafting/gathering skills while helping people rebuild, along with keeping up with her combat training.
Mental or Physical Changes: No significant injuries. Overall her mental health has improved a bit due to having some more healthy distractions, but it's more of a temporary bandage over the trauma she still has yet to fully acknowledge and deal with. Witnessing Zero's growth has set a positive example for her that will encourage her to be more open to reaching out to others in Folkmore.

Character Name: Dainsleif
Update Details:
Dainsleif’s next appearance in the canon is during the archon quest ‘Caribert’, where he appears in Port Ormos while the Traveller is speaking to Kaeya outside a tavern. On hearing Kaeya speaking about his surname he approaches and very brusquely reveals that Kaeya ancestor - another person carrying that surname - is the very person who originally founded the Abyss Order. Kaeya in turn points out that Dainsleif is a pure-blooded Khaenri’ahn (something that can be seen by the defined star shape of his pupils) unlike Kaeya himself, who is of mixed bloodlines (ostensibly).
Kaeya leaves and Dainsleif tells the Traveller that he is in Sumeru to investigate the ‘Loom of Fate’ after remembering something while recovering his health following the events in the Chasm (patch 2.6). The Abyss Twin had mentioned the Loom of Fate while they had travelled together some hundreds of years previously, and they had been in Sumeru at the time.
He invites the Traveller and Paimon to come with him to investigate and soon enough they come across a location in the Avidya Forest that Dainsleif realises is familiar. They find a building and an empty field and head inside the building, finding a box containing a broken mirror, a mortar and pestle, and Dainsleif notes that he can smell medicinal herbs.
While nothing seems out of the ordinary, Dainsleif insists that his instincts and his subconscious are telling him that something happened there. Some monsters gather outside, and after dispatching them Dainsleif expresses a belief that their appearance there was not random and that there must be some kind of Ley Line disturbance attracting them to the area. He leaves to explore the area around the house to try and find the source of the problem and the Traveller and Paimon stay behind.
(What follows are the main events of the quest, which Dainsleif is not present for but is filled in on later by the Traveller. There is a brief scene where he is present and speaking to the “Traveller”, trying to wake them and then realising they have been crying about their twin in the night… it is later clear that this was part of the Abyss Twin’s memory and not something experienced by the Traveller.)
The Traveller experiences an extended vision/memory of four hundred years previously, and the events that brought about the founding of the Abyss Order. Dainsleif and Paimon are trying to wake them and eventually succeed, and after being asked about Chlothar Alberich, Dainsleif tells them both that the man eventually went insane after around a century of immortality and disappeared. After relating the entire story to Dainsleif the man is clearly in disbelief despite the turmoil and power of the nearby Ley Lines (Ley Lines being capable of storing memory and emotions over a long period of time). The Abyss Twin who had travelled for so long with Dainsleif had never breathed a word of their experiences to him, but he realises that it was at around that time that they began to pull away from him and the path that they were both on.
The two of them dig up the empty field after the Traveller states that they want to know what is buried under it and find the skeletons of two people - a man and a woman - buried together. The Traveller believes that the male skeleton is the body of Chlothar Alberich, which indicates that at some point he had been able to break his curse of immortality and actually die. Dainsleif is clearly shocked by this revelation as this isn’t something he didn’t believe to be possible. He tells the Traveller that he needs some time to think and search his memories for some missing pieces, and that it would be safer for them to split up for now as “he” (something the Traveller saw in their vision) might have seen the Traveller.
While Dainsleif is not entirely certain who “he” is, he does have his suspicions and needs to confirm some details before he can be sure. He tells the Traveller that he will let them know what he has discovered when they next meet, ‘if the time is right’. Though Paimon tries to press him for more information, he dodges her questions.
(then he just leaves like the enigmatic PoS he is)
Mental or Physical Changes: Nothing in particular except that now, like everyone else in Teyvat (except the Traveller), Dainsleif has no memory of the Balladeer/Wanderer existing or of Greater Lord Rukkhadevata.

Character Name: Tighnari
Update Details:
Tighnari has a role in the hangout story released for Faruzan, where he asks Collei to bring her to see him and ends up being roped into drafting a proposal for an automated irrigation system for her. She also assists in repairing Karkata, the mechanical crab that Tighnari is keeping safe at Pardis Dhyai.
In the Windblume Festival event in version 3.5, Tighnari accompanies Collei - along with Cyno - to visit Mondstadt for the festival. Ostensibly this is to act as an escort for his young charge but he has full awareness that she has visited Mondstadt by herself many times before. During the event Tighnari has a side role in assisting Collei and the Traveller in solving a mysterious riddle, and also becomes acquainted with Sucrose and Albedo while doing so. He doesn’t have a massive role in this part of the story, but he does have a nice vacation! … Apart from when he’s having to suffer through Cyno’s jokes.
Mental or Physical Changes: As a result of events that took place in patch 3.3, Tighnari now has no memory of The Balladeer/Wanderer, and the scar he has from being struck by lightning due to a lightning storm caused by the Balladeer now occurred due to getting caught in a storm while scouting in the forest.

Update Details:
Heizou appears in the 3.3 event Akitsu Kimodameshi, where he assists the Traveller in unravelling a mystery and getting to the bottom of the strange, spooky events surrounding the competition taking place in Inazuma. His logical mindset and the meticulous way that he works through the clues offered to him play a vital role in the eventual resolution of the story, after which he can be found speaking to Kazuha and asking the other man if he would like to work together to solve a few cases some time.

Character Name: Mayerling
Update Details: Mayerling is gaining his memories/experiences at Deer Country. That includes meeting D from an alternate universe and (months later) learning what happened to him and Charlotte in that universe, briefly being a human version of himself, being an arcane scholar, and exploring the world within Trench and beyond. He even got to meet his parents again long after they've been dead. Overall it's a very eventful less than a year's worth of memories.
Mental or Physical Changes: Mentally, Mayerling has gained new memories. Physically, his warmblood has the ability to help halt people turning into beasts and his soul can manifest an omen (in the shape of a bat). He can also turn into a squid...

Player: aki
Character Name: Kaveh
Update Details: Kaveh is moving from patch 3.5 to 3.7, which includes the story of the event "Parade of Providence" as well as his hangout quest.
In the former, he participates in— and wins— the Interdarshan Championship, an event held by the Sumeru Akademiya on an irregular basis. In doing so, he has a Disney princess moment when he rescues a handful of desert foxes, nearly dies of heat exhaustion in doing so, and learns some things previously unknown to him, including deeper truths around the disappearance and later death of his father.
The latter is a branching story, but most of the paths can co-exist with one another. He finds out the password to his mother's old diary, allowing him some insight into her thoughts and feelings. He spends time with his friends, and agrees to help build a library for children in the desert after securing funding (of a sort) from Dori, the woman to whom he owes money for his previous project.
Mental or Physical Changes: While there haven't been any significant changes to his overall personality or mental state, the events of the championship have given Kaveh insight into the truth of his father's death, which helps in a small way to ease the immense guilt he feels over the situation. So too does reading his mother's thoughts and feelings give him a degree of peace, as despite her still being very much alive, he is reticent to speak to her about his troubles on account of feeling that he is the cause of hers.
Thanks to reminders from both Tighnari and the Traveler, Kaveh is also a little more comfortable about going to his friends for help, something he hates doing on account of being the eldest of the group, and thus feeling like he needs to have his head together. This all ties in with the things he has started to learn during his time in Folkmore, which will serve to give him strength moving forward.

Character Name: Tighnari
Update Details:
During Paradise of Providence Tighnari takes part in the Interdarshan Championship as a representative of the Amurta Darshan. He does fairly well until one of the trials is set out in the middle of the desert and he passes out from the heat, eventually found by the Traveller and the Wanderer. The latter gives him his share of water to drink and the Traveller escorts Tighnari back to the nearby town along with Cyno, who had been worried about his friend and had been searching for him.
He takes part in the final but doesn't win (Kaveh does), but isn't bitter about it since he already achieved what he had taken part in the competition to do - get some interest up for a talk he was planning.
During Kaveh's hangout quest he plays a minor role in one of the branches of the story, hosting a meal at Pardis Dhyai which Kaveh attends along with the rest of their friends.

Character Name: Kaeya Alberich
Update Details: Patch 3.8 - Secret Summer Paradise.
Since his last update, Kaeya has seemingly taken a trip to Sumeru to help the Dawn Winery. While his motives seem lost to mystery for now he learns from his first meeting with Dainsleif that his family supposedly founded an order bent on throwing down the gods. He returns home and gives everyone souvenirs from his Sumeru trip. But, a letter from Klee's mother requests they visit a friend of hers. Kaeya, Aether, and Klee let the magic letter take them to Sumeru. They run into an old friend and together they use the letter to go to the desert.
Within the bottle they find things have been shaken up. They meet the friend of Klee's mother and are asked to help fix things. Along the way, they meet people who maintain the items inside the bottle. Kaeya keeps an eye on Klee and helps her understand things she doesn't understand - big words and concepts too large for a child.
He intervenes when three brothers are fighting, and it upsets her. They run into Eula, and the two knight captains are the voices of reason. Kaeya teaches Klee things like don't get caught if you're doing something. Etc. He tells a bunch of stories and in the end, participates in a play. This is when they learn that everyone they see is a water spirit under a greater water spirit.
They fix the bottle and depart, returning to Mondstadt after an exciting journey.
Mental or Physical Changes: Kaeya is slightly more stable after the events from 3.8. He has come to certain decisions that leave him a decent head space. Knowing certain facts - i.e., his family is seemingly true will leave him in a more decision focused mindset. He will lean further into his knight duties and behaviors. And the role of a leader and figure of authority.
Physically Kaeya's wolf additions will now be based on Dire wolves. The fur pattern will be the same dark blue as before, with pale streaks of blue, just like his hair. All of his shapes will have this coloring.

Character Name: Toge Inumaki
Update Details: It's Toge's birthday and for a change of scenery he's off to check out Shibuya. Wonderful place, lots of sights and hey it's Halloween.
This takes him to chapter 119.
Since Toge's arrival in this world he's been up to the same old thing. Missions, classes, training. That's about it. When it comes to Halloween he is one of the last to arrive in Shibuya, assigned the solo mission of crowd control. He spends his time manipulating the crowd with his voice to keep them calm, but when Sukuna comes out to play, it's all for naught.
Mental or Physical Changes: Trapped within Sukuna's attack, Toge is cleaved relentlessly until his domain is withdrawn. He'll be leaving a good portion of his blood in Shibuya, and his left arm. Mentally...he's rattled. And coming back - he's gonna need a healer, he's coming in straight from the fight.

Character Name: Hythlodaeus
Update Details:
Hythlodaeus, Emet-Selch, Venat, and the Warrior of Light (Alyndra, in Hythlodaeus’ timeline) continue their pursuit of Hermes and Meteion into Ktisis Hyperboreia. Despite Hythlodaeus’ modest claims that he isn’t much of a fighter he proves to be a powerful and competent combatant as they work their way through the building, pushing back the creatures that attack them in each of the facility’s simulated environs.
When they reach Hermes himself and ultimately defeat him, they still find themselves outmatched as Hermes places them in bonds and plans to ensure that they all forget everything they had seen and heard since the Warrior of Light arrived in Elpis, using Kairos to wipe their memories (including his own). Hermes intends to bring down judgment against all of mankind, believing that “if [man] can learn to value all life and retain his will to live, even should his end be justified, he will surely find a way to avert his demise”. In order for this to be done fairly, no one should know anything of the future that awaits.
Hythlodaeus acknowledges this as a fair outcome, even in realising that everything that had happened since their arrival in Elpis would be forgotten. As Hermes bids Meteion to flee to the edge of the universe and await the final judgment there, Venat frees herself from their bonds and attacks him. With his concentration broken Emet-Selch, the Warrior of Light and Hythlodaeus are also freed and Venat sets off after Meteion while the others deal with Hermes.
Hythlodaeus plays a part in this as a diversion and distraction, claiming to see a spatial confluence through which the Warrior of Light would be able to escape - thus avoiding the effects of Kairos and retaining her memories. This is a complete lie on his part, serving as a means to gain Hermes’ attention and to allow Venat to carry the Warrior of Light through the actual spatial confluence on the other side of the platform once it has been revealed by Emet-Selch. Hythlodaeus mischievously confesses that he is entirely incapable of destroying a confluence as Emet-Selch comments that they have grown all too accustomed to brazen improvisation due to the antics of an incorrigible ‘associate’.
Venat and the Warrior of Light Escape, leaving Hermes, Hythlodaeus and Emet-Selch on the platform. The three of them have their memories altered and as they make their way out of Ktisis Hyperboreia in a confused daze, have no recollection of anything that had happened.
In the time following this, the society of the Ancients would make their inexorable progress towards the Final Days. When the catastrophe finally fell upon them and in their desperation they created Zodiark in order to avert it, Hythlodaeus was one of the many individuals (a full half of the population) who volunteered to be sacrificed to the powerful Primal.
This would mean that his soul would be unable to return to the Star and following the Sundering, Hythlodaeus’ shade spent twelve thousand years trapped on the moon of the Source. This time in limbo did very little to dent his cheerful, optimistic nature and he briefly meets the Warrior of Light again before her battle against Zodiark himself. Once his soul is freed following her victory he yet lingers, along with Emet-Selch, curious to see the ‘end’ of the journey.
Hythlodaeus’ final appearance comes just prior to the Warrior of Light’s battle against Meteion, when he comes forth with Emet-Selch, claiming a ‘bit part’ in the show unfolding before them and giving encouragement to the Warrior of Light, as well as forming the final path to take them to their destination.
With their encore complete and nothing left to be said, Emet-Selch and Hythlodaeus return to the Star together, with the latter hoping to one day see the Warrior of Light again - ‘if not in this life, then perhaps in another’.
Mental or Physical Changes: Aside from being dead, very little seems to change about Hythlodaeus between when the Warrior of Light meets him in the past and when they meet him as a shade in present times.

Character Name: Viktor
Update Details: Through season 2 of Arcane Viktor is systematically giving up parts of his humanity or his ability to feel any emotion when he was already isolated because of his disability. He had Jayce promise him in season one that Jayce would destroy the hex core. Season two starts on the cliffhanger that was between the seasons and the council room where Jayce, Mel, and Viktor are is hit with a rocket blast. We learned through the season that thanks to Mel's unwitting intervention Jayce is able to walk away without a scratch. But Viktor was (I believe) killed in the rocket blast. This would mean that Jayce performed some crazy necromancy on Viktor that ended up with him being fused with the hex core. So now his entire body has been changed into a mix of magic and metal. By the finale of the series, Viktor has God-like magic powers but to allow for that he has little to no human emotion. In fact, he doesn't look even remotely human. The very end of the series shows him getting Ekko's Z-drive thrown at his face, which does the impossible of breaking through the Herald enough to reach Viktor himself and then turning back the clock on whether or not Viktor can feel emotion. With that ability given back to him, he is able to see the end of the story a hair's breadth before he would have done it. The story ends with the void magic sterilizing the entire world of life. Though he thought he was following his logical side, he was really being manipulated by the hex core. And Viktor is horrified. Horrified enough to be willing to do what he is afraid of the most, die alone with no one to remember him so it will unmake the anomaly under the hex gates. In the end, Jayce wasn't willing to let Viktor die alone and both were pulled into the acceleration rune. Since that is how interdimensional travel is shown in the League of Legends franchise, I suspect we'll see one or both again sometime later. It was a really lovely ending for the show.
Mental or Physical Changes: He's been fused with the hex core and so has god-like (there is quite a bit of Messiah imagery) magic powers. From what seems like healing and creating a peaceful commune at first, we see him unwittingly making a hive-mind and it's not really that clear when he realizes what it was he was doing but still choosing to keep doing it.
He is a self-nerf in that he has these phenomenal cosmic powers but is terrified of ever using them. In gameplay, I will always get the other person's permission before he ever uses his magic on someone specific since it concerns the mind and knowing something in their memories through a single touch.
Power Changes: Yes, there definitely has been a change in the power level. The show keeps specifics very vague but we've seen several examples of him using magic on even more than one plane of existence. And I believe everyone who was connected to that same hive mind in the very end knew exactly what happened to Viktor and Jayce. Well right up until they teleported.
(I've not done a canon update in over a decade, please forgive me if I've done something wrong)
Re: Update
Since not all of us have seen S2 yet, can we ask for a few examples of what Viktor's new abilities can do and what its practical limitations are?
Thanks!
