Texts From Last Night

Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.
This can be used for samples on our applications and used as spoons for players accepted into the game!

So the option was wait longer and leave us under the eye of our enemy and in danger, or go up and petrify ourselves once we were finished, to be rescued at a later date.
[ So basically go to the moon and not come back. ]

Seriously?! Oh my god, Senku, are you a genius or an idiot? That's a plan that works for step one. For meeting the enemy face to face. But what about after that? What about when people need that idiot genius brain of yours for something else? You were content with "ah shucks, not my problem, even though I'm the one with the brain to maybe figure out how to get the petrified people back but I can't because I'm busy being a moon rock"?
How are smart people SO STUPID?

It's a plan that works when you don't have the capabilities or facility to build what you need. It deals with the bigger threat, while carrying the biggest risk. I'll agree with you there, there was the chance that we would never be rescued. It was a risk we were willing to take.
While I appreciate everyone stroking my ego and all, I'm hardly the only human who can come up with these things, and certainly there are many scientists revived at the moment who could take my research and run with it. That was a few years ago, you know, so I can attest to having a wide variety of people to work with and bounce ideas off of. The Earth would've been just fine without me. That's always been true. I am but one man.
Also I haven't kept the recipe to fixing that a secret. That would be completely antithetical to my desire to revive everyone. [ He doesn't even take credit for inventing it in the first place - something that will not stand with those around him. He gets buckets of credit all the time. Well deserved, but not something he's looking for. ]
All of that aside and the fact I maintain it would have worked - I think that Gen is more bothered on a personal level. I think.

There being other scientists doesn't mean you're all interchangeable. Those three chuckleheads above all have very different specialties and even more different ways their minds work. You get the wrong one with you, you're screwed. Society's big, but a lot comes down to the specific people involved. God, the whole Nine fucking Houses comes down to interpersonal drama of a few key players! It's why I am even here!
Point is, you accepted it was the only thing that worked too soon. The first solution isn't always the best solution. You gotta know that. So keep that in mind next time, chucklehead, so you don't break Gen's heart unnecessarily.

We're not interchangeable, but there's nothing I can do that cannot be done by someone else. If I died early on, Chrome would've managed to push things forward to some extent. Humanity's like that.
It was not the first solution, it was however the best solution at the time. Fortunately, Chrome was inspired, and came up with something we could manage. We assembled the rocket in space, which made the size irrelevant. Not exactly something easy to do, but I've never been afraid of something difficult.
I try not to break his heart.

Sometimes history gets really shaped by the exact individual(s) involved in a thing. Sometimes it doesn't matter so much. Someone would do it. You gotta somehow judge when's which. Not from that ego point of view. Simple practicality of the consequences of your actions.
IDK the case here. I'm not even sure WHY you're going to the moon? I mean, moons are perfectly chill celestial bodies and all. Going to space, big fan. So many people here never been to space. But why was it worth getting stuck as a lug of moon rock for who knows how long?
Someone buy Chrome a treat. Ice cream. Something. You may well owe him your life. And maybe, maaaaaybe, buddy, pal, friend, take a look at that inspiration and think a little more outside the coffin next time.
Good. Doesn't always work out that way, but good.

We needed to stop them from trying to petrify us over and over again. Once they saw we were up and moving, they tried to do it again.
Yes, yes, Chrome is the best. I gave him two days off for Taiju's wedding.
That was probably the only thing he really hasn't forgiven me for.
no subject
Misguided, that's one way to put an oopsie genocide with lets repeat. Though I guess they didn't kill everyone, at least not immediately. Humanity's pretty dope, though, so that one can be considered cool.
Gen can feel so honored getting the same treatment. How much time off did Taiju get?
If you're holding steady at one that's not too bad. But seriously, Senku, you deserve that one.
no subject
It's a long story, and for how advanced they were, an example in the limitation of machine learning.
Taiju doesn't work for me anymore, I dunno what he did. Gen doesn't work for me either technically. Technically he's Ryusui's problem. I took a whole day off for Taiju's wedding, I couldn't spare two.
I'm sure I will hear about it until the end of our days sometime in the future. We'll be retired and he'll be bringing it up again. Remember that time you wanted to be a moon rock? I already know.
no subject
Huh. Machine learning isn't exactly what we're normally dealing with where I'm from. Not what we rely on either.
I bet they get more vacation time than you do, mister couldn't spare two days for your best friend. If I ever get to marry Harrow, I'm gonna make her take a week off. A whole ass week.
You're going to retire? /falls down dead. I'm impressed! And yeah, I am glad he'll bring it up even then. You can dress up as a moon rock for Halloween next year.
no subject
Right right. Well if I marry Gen I guess he can pick however long he wants me to take off.
Presumably, but it's hard to say. I might not. Ha. I don't think five years is long enough for him to find it funny. Maybe in another decade.
no subject
I hope Gen doesn't go mad with the power. I bet he won't. He knows you too well.
Unexpected death is one way to get around retirement, but I don't recommend it. Mmkay, mmkay, give it some time. How about a robot?
no subject
If he does, it's a one time thing. If he thinks I'm marrying him again, he's got another thing coming.
I could do a robot.
no subject
On the other hand, it would be great if you two got married every year! Come on! Show the love!
Bet you could build a freaky cool looking robot costume that would fit you AND work as a robot when you aren't in it.
no subject
Don't encourage him, he'd probably do it too. Something about getting cake out of the deal. Like I can't make him cake.
I've never actually done that, six year old dreams aside. I definitely could.
no subject
You realize that makes me want to encourage him. I could come and get cake too. (But how GOOD of cake can you make?)
You should! You can design it to do useful stuff!
no subject
I don't need a robot right now.
no subject
You don't need more manual labor? You have nothing a robot would improve?
