It's unclear, but rest assured I am going to find out. It's such a rude thing to yell at passing strangers. I know there are no laws here, but at least I can track them down and talk to them about their behavior.

I wouldn't be lecturing them with the weight of the Empire behind me. It would simply be a conversation about appropriate interpersonal behavior and our duties to one another in a public space and how this is a clear breach of that.

I'm not naive enough to think that everyone shares my exact moral code, but I do have faith that I'll be about to convince our mystery offender to think about their actions, yes.

And I do not think that it's appropriate to speculate about Lady Estellise's opinions on something like this!

Oh? Well, then what if I told you that Estelle has made comments about my body a time or ten and she sounded rather jealous? Isn't that good enough to try to speculate about her opinions from then?

There is no good reason to speculate on what Lady Estellise finds attractive, particularly when she is not here! I'm sure she had very good reasons for saying those things.

Anyway.

Unfortunately, in order to satisfy your curiousity on the matter, I have to track down the person responsible first. I was too confused to get a good look.

To be clear, I am not saying that you should be, only that it's highly inappropriate to speculate about Lady Estellise in this particular way. And in other ways. In all ways it should be avoided.

I'm having a hard time picturing what kind of trap that may be, so perhaps we really do need to involve Yuri? What did you have in mind?

Estelle and I are friends. I don't think there's anything I could do to really insult her, unless I ripped up a book in front of her. Or made Rita really mad again.

Well, thank you for the compliment, but I'm going to disagree with you. One of us has a league of fans all over Terca Lumireis and someone willing to kill innocent people in their name. And it's not me.

I am very glad that she has friends outside of the castle. Being friends with a single knight isn't good for anyone, and Lady Estellise has much more to give.

And I would hardly call it a league! It's simply that my knights appreciate a space where their potential is recognized! Surely that's too much of an exaggeration!

Well, I think it helps her to have friends who are women. It's not like she gets enough exposure to that at the castle.

And, honestly, have you polled the people of Terca Lumereis lately? Everywhere we've gone, all we hear is how great you and the Flynn Brigade are. If it was anyone else, it would go to their head.

She didn't get exposure to much of anything at the castle. As worried as I was to see her gone, and as much as it is my duty to make sure that she is safe, it's good to see that she's enjoying herself so much. She deserves that chance as much as anyone.

I suppose it doesn't feel as though I've done much of anything. My brigade has barely formed, and our first mission was a colossal failure.

And this is not Terca Lumireis! No one here is enamored with anything about me, so the best bait isn't me.

She got exposure to a lot of books. It's even helpful from time to time since she can quote back what she's read.

I am more than aware of Lieutenant Davies' misguided affections, and I am working on it. It's entirely a case of him being mistreated in his former brigade, I assure you.

Are you absolutely sure of it? She's really intense for just "professional" feelings. Maybe there's some bleedover somehow, since she thinks she can comment on your personal life.

Sodia is a very intense person, and that's a commendable thing. She cares very deeply about what she does. She can certainly be too rigid about things. It's something we're working on, but we all have room to grow. I certainly do. Everyone here does.

And that's really not who I was talking about in the first place. And you know who I mean.
