TEXTS FROM LAST NIGHT

Welcome to Folkmore's monthly Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! You do not need to be in our game or be invited to play on our TFLN. This can be a great way to meet current players for future invites, get a feel for the setting, or just have some fun.

This can be used for samples on our applications and used as spoons for players accepted into the game!

I'm sure at least one person has been stabbed sitting peacefully beneath a tree.

I can promise you that you will not get stabbed.
natzoom: ([:|] you can't be this dumb)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-02 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
By themselves? No. It was an unfortunate side effect.

Relatedly: what if I stab myself? By mistake. I did that with a fishing pole once.
thinkfirst: (skit | alarmed | oh no)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-02 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Natsume! How??? How did you do that?? Please understand there is only a small amount of judgment in that question. Mostly there is concern.
natzoom: ([>(] excuse u)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-02 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
I dropped it and tried to catch it! And I suppose "stabbed" is a strong word. I jabbed my shoulder with it fairly hard, but there was no blood.
thinkfirst: (skit | annoyed | no)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-02 03:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That is much less concerning!! If you're going to tell this story you really should lead with that so I'm not worried about your health!

Anyway, is the issue at hand then that you're less coordinated than you'd like to be, or that you would prefer me and my sword not be near you when you're enjoying yourself under trees?
natzoom: ([:)] chitchatty)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-02 03:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I'm so sorry, I should've specified. I've never been stabbed with a fishing pole. I haven't really been STABBED stabbed with anything. Not fatally, at least.

Definitely the coordination part. I can enjoy the trees regardless of surrounding activities.
thinkfirst: (smile | helpful | kind)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-04 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
That's for the best. I wouldn't recommend it.

But, you know, like I said when we met: coordination can be taught. Anything can be taught! Swords certainly appear intimidating, but they're a tool like anything else. I believe very strongly that you are more than capable of learning to use one.
natzoom: ([:|] lord give me strength)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-04 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Have YOU been stabbed? Because it's beginning to sound like you may have been stabbed.

That's because you're a kind person who believes in everyone.
thinkfirst: (sigh | amused | resigned)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-04 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Rare is the knight who has not been stabbed.

And just because I'm being kind doesn't mean it's not true! I was only four when I began my sword training, and if there is one universal truth about four-year-olds, it's that they're quite uncoordinated.
natzoom: ([:|] p-p-poker face)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-04 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
I thought the main point of being a knight was to AVOID stabbing?

That is...very young. When I was four I was drawing on walls. Though I guess I knew how to do some other things. I could do my own laundry then.
thinkfirst: (what | come on | hand)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-04 06:20 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, yes, but when you've fought as many monsters as I have it is quite hard to avoid. That is why I wear heavy armor, though.

You could really do your own laundry at 4 years old? That's quite impressive!
natzoom: ([:)] ella ella ella)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-04 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I see. Well, then I appreciate your commitment to safety. Im sure your friends do as well.

It's really very simple, and I was a very independent child.
["Neglected" is a more accurate word.]
thinkfirst: (smile | neutral | polite)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-05 06:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I wasn't responsible for laundry until I was at least seven, I think, when my mother stopped being able to do very much of it. Truly, Natsume, I would be honored to even teach you how to hold a sword.

[ MOOD.... only in Flynn's case by accident so like. slightly less extremely sad image. ]
natzoom: ([:o] animu moment)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-06 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. I'm sorry, that sounds...very difficult. [Natsume is very good at recognizing when other people's circumstances are sad or upsetting, but he has a huuuuge blind spot for himself.]

Well, it'd probably be sort of useful if I learned how to fight. Or at least how to HOLD a sword. I would appreciate that very much, Flynn.
thinkfirst: (smile | laugh | tease)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-06 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Just as difficult, I imagine, as learning to do your own laundry at four.

But no age is too late to learn how to use a sword! Let me know when you'd like a lesson, please! I'll find some space in my schedule. You won't regret it.
natzoom: ([:)] ella ella ella)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-07 02:08 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it's a machine. You just...put the clothes and the soap in and push the button. I used a stepstool. It was quite easy.

You're very difficult to say no to, especially when you're so earnest. All right, I'll elt you know.
thinkfirst: (skit | alarmed | oh no)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-07 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
There's really a machine for laundry? What happens after you press the button?
natzoom: ([:|] well that's odd)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-08 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
[Of all things, it's the fact that some places don't have washing machines that most baffles him.]

Well, the machine is like a big barrel, so when you push the button it fills with water and spins around so the clothes get all soapy and cleaned.
thinkfirst: (wondering | unsure | concern)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-08 10:14 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Natsume you have lowkey blown his mind ]

That's incredible! What a great deal of work that must save... think of everything you could clean while the machine was washing everything.

Are these machines common, or expensive?
natzoom: ([:)] fake little smile)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-09 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
[Flynn, you are truly 2good for this world.]

They're fairly standard in most houses now, except for very old ones. Some places have dryers too, but most people prefer to hang dry their clothes, still. My foster parents did. They liked the way it made the clothes smell.
thinkfirst: (what | come on | hand)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-09 04:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I find it hard to believe anything could be as effective as the sun at drying clothes, although I can see the usefulness! There was a fall in Zaphias one year where we had rain nearly every day, and nobody's clothes could get dry.
natzoom: ([:)] heh.)

[personal profile] natzoom 2022-07-09 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, a dryer is like another rolling barrel, only it heats up so the clothes are dried very quickly. But it uses a lot of electricity, so it's not very practical. Besides, I like line-dried clothes.

Oh dear. I can remember autumns like that in my world too. It's nice that there are some similarities, even if everything else is so different.
thinkfirst: (skit | soft | smiling)

[personal profile] thinkfirst 2022-07-13 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, of course. It makes sense that a machine like that would require something like a blastia to work. Most machines in Terca Lumireis are the property of the nobility for that precise reason. It is nice, though, isn't it? Finding similarities. I find that I miss home more than I expected. Things like that make that a little easier to bear.
