I don't understand why they don't because so much could be avoided by simply not giving in to the idea that you MUST get drunk.

Please rest assured that should I invite you out for drinks, the option is always there for those drinks to simply be milk or juice. Juice does get you made fun of slightly less often, in my experience.

That's it exactly. Drinking to excess gets the best men into unfortunate situations. Usually annoying and messy.

And likewise. Back home, my family owns a winery, and I tend bar often, but I've never found anything appealing about drinking.

I prefer juice. ...though in my experience, there are certain loud-mouthed knights who feel the need to share their opinion on that.

We simply have to remain fast against the persistent and annoying social forces around us. Even if certain friends also do not know when to leave well enough alone, we will have more fun drinking juice. AND we'll remember the entire night.

Also, I imagine it's much easier to tend a bar when one isn't hammered?

Yes. Repeatedly. The lesson never seems to take.

We must. I prefer to keep my wits about me and my senses clear. You never know when trouble will arise.

And you're very right. It's much easier to keep things in order when one isn't drunk and tripping over one's own feet. And tongue.

That's precisely my reasoning! Well, that, and when you're drunk people will almost certainly take advantage of your loosened state to get you to do things that you regret.

Honestly, I've never met anyone who agrees with me on all points.

This is also true, isn't it? I've seen perfectly responsible people be led into foolish actins.

It is nice, yes, to meet someone who understands.

The rest of the knights spend a lot of time trying to get me to drink. Thankfully, they're not here, and even more thankfully, now that I'm their captain I can simply politely excuse myself. It wasn't that easy to escape, before! Having someone like you around to make it seem a little more normal would have been very nice.

I was a knight captain as well, when I was younger. I left years ago, however.

We should talk in person someday, over a non-alcoholic drink.
