You could feed them to me. Ever since my additions, I can't get enough meat. I feel like I could eat an entire butchery selection and follow it up with a charcuterie platter for dessert.

Do you know where the apartments are? Look for the half elf standing on the stairs waiting for you. I think I'm one of the only elves around this place right now.

And yeah, I wouldn’t have minded a house but we compromised with apartments. Works out for us.

One of the tiny houses? They looked more like little vacation homes than actual houses.

True but, we have wings so we could go anywhere.

She really is. It must be great, having a sister.

Your wings can actually carry you? Now I'm jealous.

Yeah, they can. They were a little sore from it at first but, now they carry me anywhere. I hear familiars can become the animal they have additions of?

Well. Um, I guess that would make me a wolf. A really big reddish brown wolf? [because she has the same ears and tail as Jake's wolf form. and the same sharpened teeth, too]

Sounds right. I’m a Paladin so it wasn’t too surprising for my feathers to gold a bit.

A Paladin? They're warrior priests, right?

That's right. At least that's how I ever understood it.

That's amazing, I've read about Paladins in books but never thought I'd meet one. How did you get started becoming one?

[foundpurpose]

Well, it's a complicated story. I guess I could sum it up as I said something and the Matron of Ravens took it seriously. It isn't something I can take back and these days...I'm alright with her and serving her.

So the Matron of Ravens is a Goddess?

[foundpurpose]

Yes, of fate and death. She guards souls as they transition to the afterlife. It's more important than I think most people realize.

It sounds important. The last thing I think most people would want is to die and be stuck as a ghost. Be around life, but not participate in it.

[foundpurpose]

And they're vulnerable like that. They need protection until they get safely to the other side.

That's really kind of scary. Bad enough being dead and a ghost, but having to worry about safety even past those points? Really scary.

And that's why she's there. If I understand it right, that's why she ascended to godhood in the first place. The previous god of death was...not kind.

That sounds even more terrifying. At least someone else who cares is running things now. I can see why you chose to follow her.
