You're a knight as well? While certainly stressful at times, isn't it worth it on its own?

Of course it is. But you can’t be work all the time. To be at our best we need to separate ourselves from work sometimes.

Relaxing isn’t terrible! We have to take care of ourselves too.

Admittedly, I find it very hard to actually live that way. I give my knights as much time to themselves as I can allow, but there's always more work to be done, and I never feel right ignoring it!

Perhaps consider it as you’re letting some cases develop. You know it is. Some issues need to have a little time before you can act on them.

In the mean time, you work a bit on yourself.

But in this case, aren't you suggesting that working on yourself is relaxing? I can't really see how that's the case, although I do find self-improvement relaxing. Like cleaning.

Yes, and what better way to relax than to clear your mind and decide on what your course is next? My order's acting grand master does it off and on. If she isn't sure where to go next or how to steer the order next, she goes for a walk.

Sometimes as far as the far fields. Consider as well; those around you relax some as well. Knowing you're finding the balance between work and not.

So you found her to be a more effective leader because she took that time for herself?

Yes. As her second, it is my job to help her any way I can but I can't do that if she isn't helping herself.

I've never considered it from that angle before. I'll have to think more about that. How often would you say she does this?

Off and on. I would say...less often than she should.

Perhaps you're a little biased, though. I'm sure it's difficult for her to take that kind of time. I can't think of a single block in my schedule I could use for something like that.

Perhaps I am. I'm aware of the difficulties she has. It is not easy to be the acting head of the order. Especially when we were left with only so many knights. Her and I both work very hard to keep our city safe.

But, there is great value in scheduling time for yourself. It is to one's benefit and to the benefit of those beneath you. Consider it, I express this after deeply considering whether my view has merit or not.

The problem is, I think, that I can see the merit and yet it still feels

wrong, I suppose?

Objectively, of course it's good to take time to rest and make sure that you're functioning at your best, and I would tell any of my knights to do so, but the moment I try to relax it's like my body simply won't let me. I have to clean or work on something.

Why are there so few knights, out of curiousity? What happened?

Grand Master Varka took them to investigate an ancient cursed kingdom that couldn't be ignored. Ages ago waves of beasts swept out from it and hit all the nations of Teyvat. Even gods fell in that time.

We're what's left. Some of us were too young to go at that time and now are adults seeking to build up the forces around our nation. I will confess to being the captain specializing in intelligence. Since they took all the Calvary I was supposed to command.

Why is it different when it comes to you?

As a Captain in the knights, I have a great deal more responsibility than many of my knights. I have also had to work for the bulk of my career against forces making sure that the things I propose don't happen, which means that if I want to be heard, I have to make sure that everything I put forward—every report, every call for changes—cannot be picked apart.

I see. Hm, it does sound a lot like our own problems. Diplomats - specifically a certain group - do so love to try and put pressure on our acting grand master and the city-state. I assume even your subordinates working directly with you for your case are stretched a little thin? Or are you still building such a crew?

Yes, although the Flynn Brigade had not yet had a chance to form. I was promoted to Captain mere hours before arriving here.

I see. Well, if you don't mind. I'm up for working together whenever we feel we need to.
