My best friend has very long hair, and people were always telling him he should cut it. It annoyed him, but eventually any time someone brought it up, he'd act incredibly surprised, like he had no idea his hair was long at all. It was very funny and it worked every time. Eventually people got the hint and stopped asking.

The point is, people can be very inconsiderate and if you have the energy, it's best to make them confront how ridiculous they're being.
