What's a vegan?

A vegan is someone who practices veganism, which is a dietary lifestyle where you don't eat any animal products! So no meat, eggs, dairy, or honey, etc.

Yes! It's much healthier for you than eating processed meat and dairy!

What if one's meat and dairy isn't processed?

Well, I suppose if you have locally sourced, sustainably raised meat and dairy, that's better than supporting factory farms... But I would still personally prefer to eat vegan.

During the Blight, we hunted for meat.
Though, we did have farms supporting Highever and Denerim.
Is that what you mean?

When I say "factory farms," I'm speaking more about large for-profit corporations that don't always treat their livestock well, keeping them in inhumane conditions. Focused more on how much product they can turn out than on making sure the animals they're keeping are leading fulfilling, happy lives before they are slaughtered.

It was.

[finding animals which hadn't already been touched by the Blight had been increasingly difficult as the year wound on. they went from being able to find deer readily to having to set snares for smaller animals like squirrels and rabbits, hoping against hope that they'd be edible

and that helps explain it. it also sounds rather ghastly]

Ferelden has no such factory farms. I do not know how happy the animals are on our farms, but I'd imagine far happier than a factory farm. None of our farms are owned like that, either. There are a great many family farms.

Small family farms probably have more ethically sourced livestock than the farms I'm talking about, yeah.

Then, that's good? It's been difficult to get the land back to normal after the Blight, though.
