I do not know Ezra well yet, either, but he's been kind to me and there are so few Jedi left back in my world that it is good to find more here.

Also there are two of him around here now, which is odd. I wonder if I'll encounter another of myself...

[ Focus, Merrin. ]

Cal is very dear to me, yes. It is more complicated now that he's returned from an earlier point in time from me, but regardless of the exact nature of our current relationship, he is my family.

Two of them? You know, I was just about to ask how that's possible but then I remembered how I got here and where I'm from. It's a dumb question to ask. You could see another Merrin. Anything is possible.

What is your world like? It would be very strange to meet another of oneself, I think, but there are certainly stranger things here.

Yes, I do. And yes, he tests my sanity regularly with his insistence upon fighting unwinnable battles near-constantly.

It's an Earth but with two moons. That seems to be unique with those from an Earth. The tides are rough but the night sky is very beautiful, almost purplish. Everyone from my Earth have Abilities or super powers if you'd rather call them that. I don't because there's nothing super about it. It's just a matter-of-fact.

So give him OTHER things to occupy his time and his body.

Planets with two moons are not uncommon where I am from. Some even have two suns. Dathomir has four small moons, which leave the sky an interesting shade of red most nights.

There are a fair number of people who can use the Force where I am from, though we Nightsisters call what we do Magick. It is all the same source, just the way of wielding it differs. What are your abilities?

I have plans for him. He is, fortunately, easily diverted from his worst plans once I have his attention.

That sounds spooky but pretty. [ Kate. ]

Does the way you weild it get you into trouble? Oh. I can create and manipulate forcefields. My biology is a bit different. I heal quicker too. I used to never get drunk either. It was great. [ Which is why the caffeine is effecting her here so much. The Narration finds it absolutely hysterical. ]

That's it. Invite him over for dinner and you answer the door wearing only an apron. He'll be pudding in your hands.

I suppose it is 'spooky' to most people not from Dathomir. But it is pretty, too.

It depends on whether one is looking for trouble or not. Nightsisters tend to be feared, and Jedi are hunted right now, though they used to be galactic peacekeepers. I wonder how your power compares with use of the Force to repel others; it might be worth asking a Jedi. The Force can be used to speed healing, as well, though as far as I can tell Force-users get drunk as easily as anyone else.

[ Maybe that's just Cal being a lightweight. ]

I do not think I own an apron, but I imagine I can make do.

I'll take your word for it.

[ She can describe Earth as being pretty but how would she ever describe its best feature? There are so many which is why she doesn't ask Merrin to elaborate. ]

Jedi are hunted? What for? I would hate to be hunted just because I have an Ability. [ Kate you've just described X-Men as a canon. ] Is that why they're hunted?

Well, you could buy one. OH! I know! Wrap yourself in a towel and pretend that you just got out of the shower.

It is complicated. There is a man in power, an Emperor, who does not wish for any to remain who might challenge his rule. The Jedi would have been able to stand against him, but most of their number are dead or in hiding, unable to help those who would resist. We must work against the Empire in secret, and create a safe haven for those hunted.

Cal is very much a gentleman; I think any attempts at subtlety will lead to him blushing and excusing himself.

So there's a rebellion? How's that working out?

Boo, Cal, boo.

It could be going better. We're not done fighting, but many have been lost.

He will learn. It just takes him a bit to catch on.

[bossyboiler]

That badly huh? I'm sure you guys will persevere.

[ But Kate doesn't know what all Merrin and her crew are up against. Basically, she's talking shit. ]

If only there was a way to speed up his learning and development.

We are survivors. We know how to stay alive to fight another day. I only hope that enough of us are left to make a difference.

[ So cheerful! Back to Cal. ]

I'm content to give him the time he needs. It is difficult for him, not remembering the time when we were together, or when he was here before. He will get there.

I hope you guys win.

That's good. I mean at this point, does he reciprocate your feelings? At least a little?

[dathomirs]

I believe a part of Cal has always had feelings for me, as I have for him. But Jedi are discouraged from forming romantic attachments for reasons that are... complicated, and beyond my understanding.

It took a lot of time for Cal to realize that he did not need to choose between his feelings and his responsibility. But Cal and I have always had a relationship to one another that was... different. Others commented on it long before either of us was willing to admit the depth of our feelings.

[bossyboiler]

That makes no sense. People are always going to find love or fall into it head first. Why forbid it? I wonder what else they forbid.

Oh so other people saw your mutual pining before you two did?

[dathomirs]

It is complicated. I do not believe even all Jedi have historically agreed upon the matter. Others would know more than me. Cal was so young when his master died that I do not even believe he fully understands the reasoning.

I was not pining. I did not deny myself the affection of others while waiting for Cal to sort out his emotions.

[bossyboiler]

It just seems dumb and kind of lonely, you know?

Okay. Okay! You weren't pining but tell me more about these others. What kind of a person do you go for?

[dathomirs]

I think it wasn't so lonely when there were more than a handful of Jedi. Now... yes, it does seem very lonely.

I don't know that I have a type, truly. And it's very difficult to have anything serious or lasting when you're disinclined to stay in one place. I just met people who were interesting to me in some way and who I found did not shy away from the parts of me that are often deemed frightening. There are not many people who would risk romancing a Nightsister.

What happened to them all?
