I'll be sure to remember to take you out for a fancy meal. How old will you be? 60? 70?

Oh, come on. I'm plenty hilarious. You've been smiling the entire time we've been texting. Or maybe that's just me.

No. I don't. I wish you could have things you could smile about. This month hasn't been easy either, has it? It's just been one thing after another.

It has certainly been eventful. But things are getting better.

It's good you think so. But this cold weather is awful. I'm half tempted to pack my things and move to Cruel Summer, but I hear it gets just as cold at night.

You are aware it gets cold in winter, aren't you, Charles?

This isn't cold, it's freezing. Half the time I can't feel my toes. Which is sort of hilarious considering that's going to be my future, isn't it? What am I? Paralysed from the waist down?

I believe so. You were unable to walk.

Ah, well. I'll learn to live with it. But since I like feeling my toes for now, I'm going to stay put in this bar. Best place to be, really. Well. No. That's not exactly true. I quite liked being in my cottage or the treehouse with you around.

Save a brief moment in the seventies you do seem to adjust. And I did apologise.

It was an accident. And I don't think that was what I was angry about.

No. In hindsight I know why you were upset, but I was hardly in the right frame of mind for empathy.

I can't believe we spent all those years apart. I thought we were going to accomplish so much together.

[metalkinetic]

We thought a great many things when we were younger, Charles.

[perceptive]

Is there no hope for us then? Are we destined to always be at odds with each other?

[metalkinetic]

For at least 9/10 of the decade, it seems.

[perceptive]

That's awful. How is it I still like you so much?

[metalkinetic]

I'm incredibly charming and personable.

Also, handsome. ( okay. it's officially time to stop drinking at the pub and head home already. at this rate, he might as well have 'crushing on my best friend, erik' written on his forehead. )
