Yes, mostly from movies. At least here you are no one's property. I wish that were enough to make a difference in your world.

Being here hasn't altered my programming though. [ Meaning he unfortunately still very much considers himself property, an object, not a person deserving of any rights. ] How are we presented in those movies, out of curiosity? As inherently villainous? That's the trend where I'm from and I believe it contributes to the way humans view and treat us.

What changes would you want in your programming?

Androids explore the question of personhood and those we other. It's considered a softer approach because it does not threaten anyone by representing their biases directly. I agree with you. Everything we take in, all the media, affects how we see people.

[ The corporation that manufactured him would have quite a problem on their hands if their products could choose to have autonomy. But some of them do manage to develop it on their own... and models like K are sent to rectify it. ]

The media in your home universe sounds far more nuanced than what exists in mine. [ Because androids are already a reality in his and they're not meant to be considered people. It says something, though, that many people are more empathic for a sentient being that does not exist than the people around them. [ That's one of the problems with using aliens, droids, androids, and anything else as a stand in for race, gender, or anything else. That distance provides safety that lets many people go about their lives without recognizing the connections. ]

We are in the media. We all produce it. Though, of course, like any other artists, people never know the whole story.

[ Inanna's pretty sure how they're seen is about to change. With Woden's release of a video Inanna had never seen. With the decision to come clean about all of it. The whole world's about to change. ]

I don't believe fairness has ever been a consideration when it comes to this.

It's what I've come to expect from humans. Though some here have proven to be surprising exceptions to the rule.

I'm guessing you're not a human, yourself?

[ The meme response seems to imply divinity, a concept that K's become familiar enough with here that he at least won't outright doubt such a claim. Gods, as he understands them, are a species that may or may not possess supernatural powers. Like Thirteen. ]

Undoubtedly not. You're here, not there, and surely there must be someone—if no one else, Thirteen—who can do something about that. Give you the capacity to decide for yourself.

That's complicated. I'm a god.

Self-determination is something we all deserve.

That'd be a recipe for a lot of dead humans. Or that's the prevailing belief for what happens if we're let off our leashes. With the way humans treat us, I can't help but think it may be a self-fulfilling prophecy when it happens.

[ Because some androids who've gone rogue, the older models, do absolutely murder the shit out of humans. It's why their programming has become so restrictive; a technological choke-chain, in more ways than one. ]

Me, I think I'd just want to be left alone to play my music and enjoy cat memes.

As in an all-powerful, omniscient god? Or more like a tutelary deity? Are you like Thirteen? If you don't mind my asking. I'm not sure of any etiquette pertaining to this, so I hope it isn't invasive to ask.

I agree with you. Anyone who treats others horribly, controls their lives and their very thoughts, cannot expect to be beloved by those they oppress.

Music? What music do you play? Folkmore surely is a place for music and memes.

I don't take offense. Worlds differ. I'm one god of many. More tutelary than all-powerful and omniscient, but I wouldn't choose that word. Thirteen is something else. I am simply myself, and I don't view that as any better than humans or androids.

[ It's sort of monumental for K to even entertain thoughts of humans deserving to die, much less voice them, and to have the response be one of agreement is — so very gratifying. Unexpected solidarity. From a god, no less, who apparently doesn't hold themself above others. Will surprises never cease? ]

I didn't realise how much agreement would mean to me until you wrote that. Are you speaking from experience?

I started by learning to play old jazz songs I like on the piano, branched out to classical music, and now I play anything I like the sound of. Are you a musician too?

Being able to be yourself seems like the best option. I hope it is.

As for experience, yes, I am. Both personally and knowledge of history. I'm tired of people thinking they deserve to live more than others and what they do to others to stay alive.

I'm a singer, and I've edited videos to make my own kind of music videos. [ That's the easiest explanation of fanvids he can think of. ]

There's always more to learn, and we grow and change. Still, yes, I'd say it's absolutely the best.

I've never admitted feeling that way to anyone before... About humans deserving consequences for their actions. I would've been retired on the spot for talking like this where I'm from.

Is music related to your godhood? Are you a god "of" a particular concept in addition to being yourself, I mean? If you like collaborating with others, maybe sometime we could play together. Well, I'd play, you'd sing.

That reflects poorly on the place you're from and well on you. It sounds like being here is good for you. Being able to say what you believe without pain of death is part of autonomy.

Music is related, yes, and also separate. I am. You could summarize it as love, war, and political power/independence. I would loooove to collaborate. That would be fantastic.

I'd rather be here than there, for a multitude of reasons. It's my hope that Thirteen will allow me to stay. But even if she doesn't, I'm grateful for the time I've been given.

That seems like a broad scope for one god. [ And less straightforward than he'd expected, which serves as a good reminder to keep an open mind and his preconceptions in check here. A politician god... that's a new one. ] I like that first one. [ If he were the type to use emojis, there would be a heart here. ]

I'd really enjoy collaborating too. What kind of music do you like? Do you write your own songs? I could learn to play them.

That's easy to understand. I hope you can too or... that we get some choice in where we go. Surely we could have impacts somewhere else.

Consider it multitasking. I'm fond of that one too <3 Especially with the independence, it means that I stand for everyone loving who and how they want. Making spaces where that's possible.

I love a lot of music. There's so much to like in it, whether it's the craft behind it, the way it lifts spirits, how it understands the darker parts of us... Music always does something. I hope you don't consider it a cop out, but I enjoy all music that lets me share a piece of who I am. Most often, I sing music that borders pop and indie. I've done a lot more singing than writing my heart into my own music. The closest is really taking songs and redoing them or mixing them together into something new.
