I've never heard of that name before, not in my world.

No? In my world we do have plenty of ghost and devils stories coming from the Shadow Isles, it's a cursed land shrouded by Black Myst, but nothing about a Lucifer.

Let's hope she doesn't come here then.

I knew there were differences between worlds. That one's a cornerstone in mine though.

Oh, I hope she does. We've been through some things together since then, and I like the idea of her getting a chance to be here in Folkmore. She'd cause problems, yes, but so do many people here.

I talked to quite some people here that come from worlds that are similar. 'Earth' seems to be a popular one. But mine, Runeterra, might be a bit of an outlier. Perhaps Lucifer is more common in those 'Earth' worlds?

That's very noble of you. People deserve second chances, I agree. They also should have the will to better themselves and fix their past mistakes, or they're at risk of repeating a bad pattern.

I am from an Earth-world, so your theory holds some water. I haven't heard of Runeterra, but then if it doesn't exist in the same world as mine or similar, that makes sense.

There's a difference between bad habits that are annoying and those that are unethical. On her own, she caused problems. When people attacked her and threatened her life, she caused Problems. Self-defense isn't evil, but pissing off the devil's bound to provoke more than that. It's in her nature, and everyone on Earth knows the stories, those in mine especially.

You too? I'm starting to suspect Thirteen might have a preference. Runeterra is actually not that different from Folkmore, but we have fewer spirits walking around. Or, they keep to their own plane of existence. 

Like throwing gasoline into the fire. Do you really think Lucifer could change if given enough chances?  She reminds me a bit of Jinx, but she's an actual threat who had killed people before and stolen important research.

Me too. Perhaps she does. I'm not sure what that says about her when we have little way to know the kind of worlds without people here at all. At best, we have the rarer like you. Though if your world is like this one, perhaps your people less need to come to a place like Folkmore.

She's too young not to change. It's a question of how. Folkmore could help it be for the better.

Who can tell for sure? The mind of a magic spirit is more complex and mysterious than most. With time we might get to know Thirteen better. For how long have you been living here? 

Age helps, for sure. Back home, my academy mentor is 300 years old, since he is a Yordle. It was always next to impossible to get him to change his point of view about something once his mind was made up. Hopefully, that won't be the case with Lucifer if she ever comes here.

It's more different from our own. I'd say we're all mysterious and complex. Given everything that was happening within a few hours back home, it feels like forever. More like, a few weeks give or take.

Ah, but is his mind impossible to change because he's a yordle, he's 300, he's made up his mind, or he's particularly stubborn? Lucifer can change her mind if you don't force it. Tell a story.

[ It takes a moment for Jayce to reply this time, mostly because he's smiling at his device. ]

I like the way you see life and people, Inanna. It's very positive and refreshing. [ Sometimes, Jayce needs that desperately. Negativity is so exhausting. ] Time is fake like that. Good moments are always too short, and strange ones seem to take forever.

I don't know a lot of Yordles, so I can't say if they are all stubborn like this. The age is definitely a factor, he was alive during the Rune Wars and saw how magic malpractices almost destroyed the world. In part, his fears are justified. But he seems to forget that humans live and die much more quickly, and that we can't afford to lose two or three decades as if they were nothing. That change is a necessity for our survival rather than an option we can choose to ignore.

Now you make me curious about what could happen if Lucifer met Heimerdinger. It could either be a disaster or go really well.

The world has good and bad. I'm not saying we ignore the bad, but we so easily ignore the good. I don't want to do that.

Ah, that is something about immortals in my world, even Ananke who makes three hundred look like child's play. We're always running out of time. I know how you feel, though, about change and time.

I would bet both. He might need some kind of protection, though, unless he's super hard to kill. For the moment she blows off some steam.

All true statements. I believe it is human nature to focus on the negative to the point where we lose sight of what makes life worthwhile.We should know better, it's a learning curve.

[ Jayce re-read the text a couple of times, and now has several questions. Mostly because Inanna used 'we'. ]

You are immortal? I thought you were younger than me. I don't think you mentioned Ananke before. Is she evil morally dubious like Lucifer?

Sounds about right. Professor Heimerdinger is a very peaceful man, and he also reaches only about my mid-thigh. He's not at all suited to fight.  Yordles are...tiny. Also furry, with big ears.

The best way is to do better ourselves. Be an example.

I'm a god who is younger than you. Ananke's well past morally dubious into the lock away for the rest of her lifespan category. Free, she'd only try to kill others again to stay alive.

It's easier said than done but, I'm trying to do that.

You could have told me you were a god before! I'd have been...I don't know more respectful or something. [ More normal, at least. He would have tried. You're like, the fourth God he's met in this world, Jayce is handling it the best he could. ] What areyou the god of?

Ananke is big trouble, got it. That's how she sustains herself? With other people's life energy? 

There are a lot of different species in my world, and we all coexist generally well. When I first arrived at Folkmore I often mistook Familiars by Vastaya. They are a race with animals characteristics as well, but they don't fully transform into animals. We have different Vastaya students at the Academy, or visiting during Progress day.

I'm not trying to trick you, and I'm not going to punish you or something. I'm being myself, and however that gets me treated, I'll handle.

It's a bit of a list: Goddess of love, beauty, sex, desire, war, combat, justice, & political power. I'm also known as Queen of the Heavens.

Ananke sustains herself with other gods' life energy, and she kills whoever gets in her way or serves her purposes of manipulating the gods. She started off killing her own sister, her friends, her lover. I have no idea how many people she killed total. A lot.

That sounds incredible. I really like having the spirits, catfolk, etc here as well as all kinds of us star children.

I don't think you're the type of person who would lie out of the blue, I know you weren't trying to trick me. It's only that gods usually deserve a certain level of respect, and I didn't want to be so casual and give the wrong impression. It's good to hear things don't have to change between us.

[ Given how Inanna claims to be the goddess of love and justice, among other things, it makes sense that he's this understanding. ]

Queen of the Heavens is an incredible title, by the way. You should get yourself some presentation cards. [ See, this suggestion is a good example of why Jayce being too casual can get ridiculous. Caitlyn had to deal with a lot of conversations like this. ]

That's horrible. Ananke seems pretty desperate. What makes life worth living is that it doesn't last forever, she must be really afraid of death.

Pretty much, yes. Most creatures from runettera would be at home here, like the pogos.

Everyone deserves a certain level of respect. On the contrary, getting to interact with you as you tells me far more than any respectful display could. It's truer to life.

It is a good title. You may see ~queenofheaven on Foxi from now on.

Fear of death is as old as time. I don't know if she was even enjoying it anymore; she was too afraid of the alternative to accept it. We're agreed on that, what makes life worth living, you and I. We'll have better lives than her for it.

No one knows what awaits us after death, and people are conditioned to be scared of what they can't understand, even gods. If she ever shows up here, let us know. I don't want any danger to come to you, or other gods here.

Jayce, you needn't have worried. You've left a remarkably good impression.

How do you personally flaunt it?

I have no doubt that if Thirteen came to her, comes to her, in the moments before her death when she knew she was about to die, she would agree to come here. Anything, not to die. After so many thousands of years down the same path, with all its permutations pantheon to pantheon, I simply am unsure how much potential she has. I will warn you, however, if she comes. Ananke might use the name Minerva.

Ah, you charmer. That's a big relief.

Me? I really don't have much to show, just my inventions. So I make them available to people, to try to make their lives easier.

[ Jayce isn't a man who generally likes to boast, but he is proud of what he and Viktor have accomplished so far. Or...mostly proud. There had been ups and downs, of course. Using magic, which you are still working on understanding, is a dangerous affair. ]

We all would choose a second go at living if given the chance. I only hope that if that happens to her, she learns from her past mistakes and can make the new chance worth it. Minerva, ok. I'll remember that name. If a man named Silco or a younger woman who goes by the name of Jinx ever arrives in this world, be careful with them. They're both very dangerous criminals.
