An elf is just another species of person, with pointier ears and they live longer than humans do, I think?
One of my grandparents was an elf. But I didn't know them, they died before I was born. But then my dad taught me some Elvish when I was little, sort of as a way of connecting with my heritage, you know? Along with Druidic, but that's more of a class thing than a species thing...
