May 2025 Story of Us

Story of Us: May 2025
Table of Contents
Hello Folkies! This is our monthly Story of Us post where we get together to make game announcements, ask for any feedback or suggestions, and remind our players of upcoming dates! This update covers 13th May - 12th June.
Contents
Trial Consequences & Continuing Effects
Over the last month, Folkmore experienced:
  • A mathematical cavern hosted by dragons!
  • The trolley problem where Star Children must select which trial is more ethical—to which other Star Children and/or spirits are subjected to.
These led to the following consequences:
  • Star Children start getting a Lore sickness. It may make purchasing with Lore difficult to impossible or have a variety of unpleasant physical symptoms.
These effects continue:
  • Anyone who has not used the ritual to clean their homes still have dust everywhere. A lot of dust. New flowers have stopped blooming, but good luck cleaning that.
Iteration Iteration
Thirteen's iteration Thoth continues to lead Folkmore. Star Children can tell because Star Children continue to arrive in Thoth, and Star Children old and new are teleported to Wintermute to make decisions or help cure the Lore sickness. A white fox continues to find lost Star Children, or perhaps they simply get teleported to Thoth Academy.

Star Children may contact Thoth via showing up at Thoth Academy, where she spends the entire month. If she's busy, stick a post-it note on her door. She'll definitely get back to you, just after she finishes the tasks on her other post-it notes.

Weather & New Environmental Effects
  • The weather this month is clear. It's possible to see right across Folkmore. In fact it's so clear that people can see for miles, even those who normally could not. Take in the views and find hidden spots around Folkmore previously gone sight unseen.
  • At night, it rains in Epiphany, Willow, and Exile, the perfect amount for ambience, crops, and plant needs. All the moisture, and none of the daytime bother. It leads to an abundance of seasonal fruits and vegetables at the farmers' market. Even those who sleep in can get good food this month. Though the fog burns off within half an hour of sunrise.
  • The temperature is temperate, neither too hot nor too cold. At least, what most people in any given region would consider the appropriate weather for this time of the year. It's still hotter in Cruel Summer and cooler in Wintermute.
  • Lightning comes to Folkmore. Not the purple lightning that people may have told stories about (Fuck Lightning). No, this lightning is a natural sun yellow. When it strikes, people get a new idea! At the same time, the bath in their home gets filled with hot water that stays hot until someone takes a bath or drains it. Star Children who contacted Thoth last month are especially likely to be struck by inspiration.
  • A special trolley toy set is for sale in Tides. When it's set up, the train travels outside and inside the home. When the train returns, it brings the weather indoors as long as the train is running.
Announcements
New Update Page
  • The mods have split updates into three categories: Canon, FM AU, & Role Change
  • Canon updates are when characters gain memories from their lives (at home or in another game) where they had no memory of Folkmore.
  • FM AU updates are when characters gain memories from their lives (at home or in another game) where they had memories of Folkmore. Possibly abilities. These updates can create AUs that alter the canon timeline.
  • Role changes are when characters change roles while remaining in Folkmore.
  • Each type of update has its own form and comment to respond to for requesting updates.
  • Previously submitted updates for characters still in game were reposted by the mod account with the month the update took place.
  • Check it out here.
