Well, Jedi *used* to have exams at the Temple on Coruscant. Kids got raised with well rounded educations, so you know. Exams for your academic classes, like pretty much every other school. I have no idea how Luke is doing things.

But nah, I was taking a placement test at Kuma Lisa. Turns out I know don't know much about statistics and number theory.

Mostly by ignoring me and then griping at me about how the Jedi should end. With a side of telling me to go away and then lying to me about something really really important. Honestly, I'm glad I didn't pay for any of it, I'd want a refund.

I get you're from a version of the future and people can change, but that doesn't sound at all like the guy I know.

Yeah? It was a mess from start to finish. Which lasted about a week. And I kind of get why he lied because what happened sort of blew up in the galaxy's face, all it did was make everything worse.

Well, it happened along the way. I suppose I should ask when you're from. And given the scale of the blowing up, I can understand why he was cranky.

Well, when I'm *from* is about 18 years into the Empire. But I know Luke from about 5 years after that. Or from his birth. Although I tend to think of baby version as Luke Amidala.

Time and the multiverse is weird. My life is VERY weird.

Please tell me he didn't lie to you about your parents being dead, or something like that.

It sounds like it.

I don't know that calendar system. Is that years post Empire?

I met him in a place like this, with people pulled from all over the multiverse.

And it truly is a multiverse. I've met people from very different futures, after the fall of the Empire.

Do you know if Luke had a wife and child? Nephews? At least one niece?

After the Battle of Yavin, where the Rebels destroyed the first Death Star. So close to the end of the Empire-ish?

And he wasn't old and cranky? He was the hero and legend everyone said he was?

I'm definitely in the latter category, though the First Order is doing a brilliant job of trying to replace them. But there's the Resistance, they'll stop them if what I'm trying doesn't work.

Nephews? As in, more than one? And a niece? And I don't even want to think of Luke having his own wife and child, it's like thinking about an angry uncle fooling about.

It was a huge loss for the Empire, so that's a good thing?

Yes, I'm sure it was a massive loss of resources, showed everyone the Empire's true colors in a way that couldn't be ignored, and a huge crack in the veneer of invincibility when it was destroyed. Yay.

It was a huge victory for the rebellion, yes.

The Empire already used it on a planet before it was destroyed.

I don't want to say which one. Just in case.

So many Earths, with the same nations. As if infinite doesn't mean that some things are more likely than not.

He believes all these things are true.

He's talked about Lothal a lot, a not one person's he's met from a relative future has reacted strongly to it.

Not Lothal then. Lothal might make sense as a target if it remains free, but really, it's a tiny world far into the Outer Rim. There are much better targets out there.

There are clearly multiple versions of the future out there, even for 'our' galaxy, anyway.

In the place I was for about a year and a half, I spent significant time with Anakin and Jaina Solo. I know Jaina has a twin named Jacen.

Their baby cousin was Ben Skywalker.

But there was *also* this guy who turned up around calling himself Kylo Ren. Darksider, although he seemed to mostly keep to himself. Really resented being born into that family, for reasons he wasn't willing to talk to me about. Also said some weird stuff about not being able to choose your family.

But Jaina and Anakin didn't recognize him at all.

[guess who goes from 'nope nope nope, do not want' to an odd and completely ridiculous sense of relief in 1.5 seconds? after all, wouldn't it be better for everyone if Kylo Ren never existed? better for the entire galaxy, better for his family, better for Finn, better for her?]

I've never met Anakin and Jaina Solo. Unless Leia hid them away somewhere?

I don't see how. Anakin's a Jedi Knight and Jaina was in training.

Or rather, Anakin's the younger one. I'm pretty sure, back home for him, Jaina and Jacen were Knighted already.

But Jaina came from earlier, so she was still in training.

No, Kylo just came from a different way things could have gone, as far as I can tell.

That sounds confusing for everyone, especially for Anakin and Jaina.

Kylo was never exactly willing to talk to me openly, so hard to say.

I know for Jaina and Anakin the Jedi Order was small, but they seemed confident in their paths, especially given they were both teenagers. That the idea that someone was sort of their brother would want to turn his back on both their birth family, and the Jedi, was bewildering and painful to them.

But there's only so closely I interrogated them, either.

There is no Jedi Order where I'm from, though I think I've mentioned that. All there is is me and I'm barely trained. All I know is that the Force is strong and it's brewing in me and I'm still not sure how to control it.

I can't imagine having an even sort-of sibling and not wanting anything to do with them.

Anakin was one of my closest friends in Trench. I don't think he'd have outright refused to answer much.

But sometimes it's just easier to focus on the present and not things as they were back 'home'.
