Yes, eventually I found a wonderful publisher who was happy to--story, singular, but very long and with a good number of ghosts (five or six, one of whom was a major character).

I would not say I stole anything or anyone, no. A man who had once flirted with her turned his attentions to me without my encouragement. The fact she believed he traveled to our city because of her did not create between them a binding agreement. Yet she was both hurt and furious (and already disliked me as her brother's best friend, I think) - I would have let her have him, she was too proud to speak to me.

You're clearly not Eunice's replacement gentleman, even if you're eloquent enough to be.

I am pleased on your behalf that you found someone with the character to recognize your story for the potential it has and to bring it to those who would frighten themselves before bed and dream of ghosts.

You are a kind and considerate friend, yet I do wonder whether Eunice could truly have him, even should you step aside. The heart is guided only by the heart, and had it turned aside, it may not readily turn back, even without another returning his affection. Yet I do not know your gentleman, so I leave the matter in your hands.

Even should Eunice be here, unfortunately for her my heart is taken by another and cannot be given anew to some new acquaintance.
