Welcome to Folkmore's Texts From Last Night meme! This meme can be used as a branch off from our Test Drive Memes and be used as game canon or just for casual fun in the setting! [ Someone who was more worried about fair play might start over, but Toge didn't see the problem.

He swishes his tail back and forth. There isn't much room for running but he does take half a step back. He's got about one and a half steps worth of room.

Not much running room, but he's going to do it anyway. Another leap and this time he makes it onto the light fixture. Fortunately it holds.

He doesn't linger, next leap he's right up on the beam. He sits down, pleased with himself, tail draped over the side. ]

[ Onward it is. Baphomet watches and applauds at the end. ]

Well done. Well done. You look quite cute up there.

[ Presumably coming down will be easier, but that's Toge's next problem. He dangles a paw in response to being called cute. If he was on the floor he'd see if he could trick Baphomet into petting his stomach to get nipped in return. It's the best trick he has in this form.

However, he figures he can't do that anyway from up there. Toge decides to wait him out, see what he does with him just lying on the beam. ]

[ Baphomet watches for a while, but a cute raccoon on a beam isn't something he's inclined to watch all day. He'd get a crick in his neck. Instead, the god backs up and jumps up with the help of some of the self-same fiery steps. Cheating, perhaps, but he's not the one who bragged.

Baphomet crunches up, taking far more space than the small Familiar, and checks out the view from above. ]

You really out to put a bucket of water up here sometime. Dunk it on someone.

[ If it's possible to tell if a raccoon dog is smiling, Toge definitely is because that's a great idea.

He gets up on his paws again and pads back and forth as though evaluating where on the beam it would be best and what he could do to set it up to dump it on some poor unsuspecting person.

Although really, it'd be hard to get water up there without the jumping and Baphomet's help. He's kinda short. ]

[ Baphomet got in trouble as a teenager for reasons, multiple of them. He also eyes the beam and the small raccoon (dog?) person up here. It's funny that Toge isn't simply small as a person but also a Familiar. The two don't always line up. ]

You could pulley it up at least most of the way. When I wasn't balancing buckets on the tops of doors, some kind of trigger system with a rope system usually was my go to. If you wanted to go overboard, Rube Goldberg machine it. That'd be a lot more work, and it might get noticed. But oh it'd be fun.

[ He couldn't necessarily say he was mechanically inclined, but definitely he could rig something up. He's padding back and forth now, plotting the way back down. He doesn't look terribly scared though.

Toge shifts, gets his balance and leaps, transforming in midair to land on his feet with a thud.

That was much easier as a human, thanks to his athletic abilities. He raises his arms victoriously. ] Mentaiko!

[ Baphomet laughs watching the small animal form versus the long distance to the floor debate. Toge cheats, naturally, returning to human shape, but ah, Baphomet cannot blame him. Well, he can.

He leaps down as easily and lands with a heavy thud, knees bent. ]

Too far for your little little form? [ Baphomet smirks. ]

[ He tilts his head slightly at the question as he considers it and waves his hand side to side. ] Sujiko.

[ Maybe? Kind of? He has better balance in this form, obviously, he's used to it. Then again, he's also sure Baphomet is not going to understand him. Man it's a pain. He'll pull out his relic and hold it up. He can use this? ]

[ Baphomet nods, glad the teasing is taken in turn. Toge strikes him as the kind of teenager used to teasing others, and now he knows the kid can take it in return. ]

Oh sure, go for it. Whatever you prefer, man. [ Baphomet waves a hand. ]

[ He smiles and types him a message anyway. ]

I prefer just talking but I know you don't understand me. I'm not used to doing things in that form, where I've trained a lot in this one.

It's a great Tower of Babel experiment. [ Baphomet shrugs. ] Give it enough time, I'll understand you. I speak like 6 languages. They might not be tonal, but come on, you're a living speaker. It's not like the language has been dead and lost thousands of years.

[ Yes, that's a thing. Gods help preserve some fragments of ancient languages, but still, it took a lot of work. ] So what'd you want to talk about then?

[ He laughs a little bit. ] Salmon.

[ Baphomet said something pretty interesting though, idle conversation aside. He was just bored, he hadn't had anything specific in mind. ]

Well you could argue I'm speaking Japanese, limited as it is. As for my code, I'm the only living speaker. Who else would pick it?

It took Yuta, Maki and Panda about six months to understand me.

[ Baphomet winces slightly at Japanese, not the later part. ] I'd probably need more than six months to really learn Japanese, not the shit I did for studying the Recurrence. Your code is probably a lot easier, I'd bet. Sure, Yuta, Maki, and Panda already spoke Japanese, so maybe I'll need longer, but eh.

You have a code. That makes it cool. At least to the nerd trying to read his family's books in ancient dead languages as a kid.

[ He got the slightest of laughs out of Toge, he looks rather amused. ]

I think it's cool, it's just also necessary. Cursed speech. Not much I can do about it since I can't talk.

But that's where the coolest ideas come from. Some restriction or limitation. There's a reason people flock to play D&D and LARP with rules and not the make believe little kids play. It's more interesting. More fun.

[ Baphomet grins behind his sunglasses. ] That makes you the creator.

[ Toge enthusiastically likes that idea, no matter how impractical his cipher is, it's what he has to work with at the moment. It was never supposed to matter, but now it does. ]

[ Baphomet grins and shoots finger guns at Toge. ] That's right. It's going from an edge case to something fun, something people will want to know.

The more you use it and people like Yuta, Maki, and Panda understand you and reply back, the more people will want to be a part of it.

[ He thinks about that a moment and shakes his head. ] Fish flakes.

[ It's amusing to think about but he explains himself. ]

They don't usually answer me like that. The only person who's ever done that is Jedao. It's really funny to me!

[ Baphomet reads the text to understand what the negation is about. Also, does Toge dislike fish flakes? How did he settle on that? Inquiring minds want to know. ]

Oh, sure, but if you talk like you talk and people interact with you without any texting translation, it makes people want to know what you mean. Even if they don't speak it themselves. Everyone wants to be in on the secret code.

Tuna mayo. [ His tone is pretty pleasant at that. People around him at home do understand him, but they don't banter back at him. They should. It would amuse him greatly. He'll have to suggest it sometime. ]

[ Baphomet grins. ] I'm going to get in on this club. Just you watch.
