It's easier to show. Basically, you cut open the console and find the internal switch. To ignite it, you have to find the live wire and use it to spark the nav. But not too much, or it burns out the motherboard.

Depends on the type, but yeah. A hauler or a freighter, some smaller craft. The type you only need one pilot for, and not a whole crew either in the ship or on the ground to support it.
