December 2022 Trial Event Plotting
Trial 8 Plotting Post
Welcome to our plotting post for this month's event! This plotting page doubles as our monthly CR meme. If you have questions about the trial, ask them below.
All the glitter from November has faded away, but the shinning stars remained, leaving the night sky bright all through the month. Kuma Lisa is still the current iteration of Thirteen, however characters will often see her in her Fox form that has now turned pure white to match the snow that covers most of the land (with the exception of Cruel Summer).
The nights are much longer than before and the cold outside makes Star Children want to cuddle up with someone to keep warm. Despite the cold, however, the night will feel always beautiful and peaceful, which the Star Children might find comforting. Every night paper lanterns will be released to light the streets and stores all around Folkmore; these will magically remain in place until the end of the night, rather than floating away. When the day comes, they will rise up and disappear.
The days, in contrast, will feel a bit more grey and listless. There won't be a lot of light and everything seems a lot slower than usual, lacking the spirit of the night. Star children may feel a bit more depressed than usual but if they reach out to others this feeling may be eased.
Feel free to use the following form for your plotting and CR needs.
Reminders:
π¦ As of this month, the CR Meme and Plotting Post are combined. The form above reflects that.

MIDNIGHTS
β
The calm, cozy vibe that settles over Folkmore in December also encourages people to reach out to others. For some that might mean visiting a select few friends, for others it may mean throwing dinner parties or other get-togethers. Especially in the evenings, the urge to be with someone else is common.
And really, lounging around in a nice warm house with someone to talk to is such a lovely way to spend your time. Why, you might get to talking and the next thing you know the clock is chiming midnight.
Whatβs that? You donβt have a clock? Oh. Well. Thereβs a chiming noise anyway! Accompanying this is the sudden appearance of a full-length mirror. It may be suddenly hanging on the wall, or appear in the doorway when you get up to use the washroom. Itβs somewhere, and when you find it youβll see yourself smiling back at you. Even if youβre not a smiler.
Your reflection is obscured, however, by a powder blue post-it note stuck on the surface of the mirror. On the post-it, in your own handwriting, is a word, or a phrase, or maybe several thoughts quickly jotted down. It may even be a drawing. However it is articulated, the content of the note is very simply some personal issue of your own making, something that holds you back in life. It is, in words or pictures, one of your self-made cages.
If you cannot see any of this, thatβs alright - your companion probably can, and will no doubt relay all of this information to you.
This could be awkward for you, seeing something so personal laid out so simply in front of someone else. Or maybe youβre at the point where you just donβt care anymore. Talking about it can be very beneficial - you will feel lighter, more free, and more emotionally stable.
When you pull the post-it off of the mirror you will feel an intense relief as some part of you accepts that itβs time to let go of certain behaviours or thoughts. This isnβt necessarily an instant cure, but it can be a very important first step.
And if you are lucky, your mirror self moves, holding out something from your homeworld to you. You may see as many reflections of yourself as you wish this month, but this gift from you to yourself happens only once. After you have removed the post-it and possibly received your present, your mirror self fades away and the mirror goes dark.

I NEED TO FEEL SOMETHIN' β
Content Warnings: Sensory deprivation/loss.
The calming atmosphere of Folkmore this month may encourage people to reach out to one another, but some people are just naturally more shy and prone to introspection. For some, the temptation to stay inside and just watch the snow fall down from the sky in silence might be too enticing to resist.
The more you go into hermit mode, however, the more you will notice the world changing.
Itβs very subtle at first: smells seem a little less intense, colours more washed out, music quieter. It becomes harder to physically feel things and you will become prone to dropping objects. Itβs almost as if your perception is being blanketed by snow, numbing your senses. Your body will grow gradually colder as you catch the slowest chill in history.
It is possible to get frostbite from this, and to lose all of your senses, but it takes a long time - you would have to ignore it for literal weeks.
So whatβs the cure? Come on. You know by now: you need to be around people. It doesnβt matter if it is people you like - you can be around your sworn enemy and it will immediately and quickly begin to reverse the effects. By the time youβve spent an evening with someone you will be back to your old self! Whether that evening is spent hanging out and having a good time or screaming at each other is irrelevant.

QUESTION...?β
Content Warnings: Mild stalking by cute monsters.
While the days are not particularly exciting, December evenings do hold more than just hot cocoa and conversation. Both Willow and Epiphany have public ice rinks open, and there are concession stands at both selling hot drinks. Wintermute has its hot springs, and at night they are lit up with hundreds of small twinkling lights. Cruel Summer, the least affected by the cold, has dance parties thrown around bonfires that last from sundown to sunrise. You wonβt be able to wear your skimpiest outfits in the cold desert air, but you should be able to stay warm enough if you stay near the fires.
Whether you choose to attend a winter event or just stay in your home, you may find yourself haunted by a rattling noise. It sounds like someone shaking seed pods, or perhaps small stones. It starts soft. Solitary. Take a look around and youβll find the source soon enough: a small white humanoid figure with an oversized head. It doesnβt have a proper face, just large black holes to vaguely suggest eyes and a mouth. As you watch, the creatureβs head tits unnaturally far to one side and then snaps back into place, making the rattling sound.
You will find that more and more of these little guys start popping up, following you wherever you go. They donβt try to hurt you or get in your way, but they still seem to be herding you somewhereβ¦ or rather, towards someone.
Yes, once you find yourself around someone else (whether you know them or not) the creatures will more or less surround you both, their heads rattling and rattling. The only thing that makes them settle down is when you and this other person get closer, physically or emotionally. And the only way to make them go away for good? You need to share something. Whether a dance, a kiss, or a secret - there must be a personal exchange of some kind. Only then will the creatures wander off, seemingly satisfied with a job well done.

varen avegos | original | familiar
Character Name: Varen Avegos
Permissions: π¦ Permissions
Character Role: Familiar; he can turn into a wolf, bird, or horse depending on the circumstances.
Public Knowledge:
π¦ Personality β He's quiet, thoughtful, and protective. He acts overly cautious and puts others before himself.
π¦ Info β People would have probably heard by now that he's a royal guard. He can be seen patrolling the footpaths of Folkmore to make sure everyone is safe. Some days he can be seen doing parkour across roof lines and up the sides of buildings to keep fighting fit. A couple of people have probably seen him transform into a wolf by now. He's larger in wolf form than his human form and has dark brown fur. He can walk on hind legs but prefers to run on all four.
General CR information
Wanted CR: He came to Folkmore a heartbroken man and it's going to take awhile to heal from that. For now, I'd like him to grow close enough to some people that he considers them his pack, so found family vibes. Also lots of friendships, please. I honestly wouldn't mind some light flirting with ladies, but he can't offer anything deeper right now.
Unwanted CR: Negative CR.
Goals For Your Character:
π¦ Goal/Arc β To gain better control over his emotions. On the outside he may look put together, but that's because he's rarely been tested. Werewolves are emotional creatures and as a bodyguard he needs to have a firm grasp over his emotions so he doesn't make mistakes while guarding lives. I can see the trials being good practice for him, but at the same time, he needs to learn it's okay to let others see him be vulnerable at times as well. There is room for both tight control and letting it all out.
Specific CR for the trials: I want him to touch base with some of the people he's talked to already. Let's strengthen this CR!
Trial information
Trial Reactions & Goals:
π¦ Goal β He's in a better spot regarding his heartbreak than when he arrived, but there is always further to go, so him taking another step towards getting over it is what he'll be looking to do.

gemmaline | the elder scrolls online | legend
Character Name: Gemmaline
Permissions: π¦ Permissions
Character Role: Legend
π¦ Exploring β I do want her to eventually learn to fly with these wings, but I'm not making it a priority.
Public Knowledge:
π¦ Personality β Gemmaline is friendly, good-natured, and outgoing. She's quick to offer help and loves hearing stories. Her behavior shifts if she's around someone arrogant or rude and she'll turn towards sarcasm and biting jabs because in her experience very little can be done to sway minds away from that attitude.
π¦ Info β She's probably best known for her little forge outside her house in Talaria and the newly opened store, Gemmaline's Jewelry in Epiphany. Also she has a large ram made of starlight that she rides around on often and will give others a lift if they're tired of walking.
General CR information
Wanted CR: Gemmaline is an orphan who found camaraderie within the Thieves' Guild early in life but moved away from thievery to help people instead. She would love to feel the kinship and closeness she felt with some people back in Tamriel, so give me found family, friendship, and even romance! There was a guy she had started to grow attached to but then he died (actually sacrificed himself so she could defeat the Big Bad) and while she wouldn't say she's stuck on him, most men will at least get compared to him in her mind. However, Gemmaline is at a good place to move on and all this talk of soulmates and lovers has her feeling left out! As I said in Varen's comment, I'm all about ships evolving naturally in game and one day going "oh, these two are cute together," so in the meantime, let's just throw our characters together and see what develops. She would be down for friends with benefits just so she could have a good time.
Unwanted CR: Negative CR.
Goals For Your Character:
Specific CR for the trials: I want her to grow closer to people! Please, let her be there for your character and listen to their worries. She'll do all she can to help!
Trial information
π¦ Goal β I'm not 100% sure yet if I'll have her see herself in the mirror but I DEFINITELY want her to start to freeze and need to be warmed up!
Trial Accomplishments:
π¦ Trial Accomplishment β Having someone help her get warmed through.
π¦ Trial Accomplishment β Meeting someone and getting closer as a result of the little white figures drawing them together.

o rly? Viktor's going to have to at least show his hand and potentially have to explain how the Hex-Core consumed his research assistant and is now taking over his mind. Also private magic lessons still need to be a thing :3

christine delacroix | original | legend
Character Name: Christine Delacroix
Permissions: π¦ Permissions
Character Role: Legend
π¦ Exploring β I want her to learn to fly so she can take to the skies with her falcon.
Public Knowledge:
π¦ Personality β Christine is someone I categorize as lawful neutral. She prefers there be rules to follow and if she agrees with them, she sticks to them. Her biggest desire for everyone is to have security. She wants people to be safe and for the world around them to be a safe, welcoming place. Christine hates chaos, spontaneity, and not having a plan. She's compassionate, a born worrier, and wants the best for people.
π¦ Info β Still relatively new, Christine can be found in the library at Kuma Lisa doing research on anything and everything. She'll say she loves learning new things, but also wants to be prepared. Other times she can be seen gathering flowers and herbs in a satchel. Perhaps her bird has made herself known first with Christine scolding her to leave that person be. Christine pretty openly uses magic and will offer her services as a healer too.
General CR information
Wanted CR: All the friends please! She was an only child and her parents are gone so I'd be down for found family. It's easy for Christine to worry over others so that could be an in towards deeper CR. As previously said, if a ship starts to form organically I'm here for it. She prefers men and honestly hasn't had many paramours in her past because she's such a workaholic that she put her career as an alchemist and healer first.
Unwanted CR: Negative CR.
Goals For Your Character:
π¦ Goal/Arc β I eventually want her to figure out that it was the god of death and resurrection who brought her back and not some random mage practicing necromancy. This will of course lead to more questions as to why a god wanted her to come back, but it'll be a big step forward in her story.
Specific CR for the trials: Anything and everything! I'm ready to dive in and come away with new friendships for her!
