December 2022 Trial Event Plotting
Trial 8 Plotting Post
Welcome to our plotting post for this month's event! This plotting page doubles as our monthly CR meme. If you have questions about the trial, ask them below.
All the glitter from November has faded away, but the shinning stars remained, leaving the night sky bright all through the month. Kuma Lisa is still the current iteration of Thirteen, however characters will often see her in her Fox form that has now turned pure white to match the snow that covers most of the land (with the exception of Cruel Summer).
The nights are much longer than before and the cold outside makes Star Children want to cuddle up with someone to keep warm. Despite the cold, however, the night will feel always beautiful and peaceful, which the Star Children might find comforting. Every night paper lanterns will be released to light the streets and stores all around Folkmore; these will magically remain in place until the end of the night, rather than floating away. When the day comes, they will rise up and disappear.
The days, in contrast, will feel a bit more grey and listless. There won't be a lot of light and everything seems a lot slower than usual, lacking the spirit of the night. Star children may feel a bit more depressed than usual but if they reach out to others this feeling may be eased.
Feel free to use the following form for your plotting and CR needs.

MIDNIGHTS
★
The calm, cozy vibe that settles over Folkmore in December also encourages people to reach out to others. For some that might mean visiting a select few friends, for others it may mean throwing dinner parties or other get-togethers. Especially in the evenings, the urge to be with someone else is common.
And really, lounging around in a nice warm house with someone to talk to is such a lovely way to spend your time. Why, you might get to talking and the next thing you know the clock is chiming midnight.
What’s that? You don’t have a clock? Oh. Well. There’s a chiming noise anyway! Accompanying this is the sudden appearance of a full-length mirror. It may be suddenly hanging on the wall, or appear in the doorway when you get up to use the washroom. It’s somewhere, and when you find it you’ll see yourself smiling back at you. Even if you’re not a smiler.
Your reflection is obscured, however, by a powder blue post-it note stuck on the surface of the mirror. On the post-it, in your own handwriting, is a word, or a phrase, or maybe several thoughts quickly jotted down. It may even be a drawing. However it is articulated, the content of the note is very simply some personal issue of your own making, something that holds you back in life. It is, in words or pictures, one of your self-made cages.
If you cannot see any of this, that’s alright - your companion probably can, and will no doubt relay all of this information to you.
This could be awkward for you, seeing something so personal laid out so simply in front of someone else. Or maybe you’re at the point where you just don’t care anymore. Talking about it can be very beneficial - you will feel lighter, more free, and more emotionally stable.
When you pull the post-it off of the mirror you will feel an intense relief as some part of you accepts that it’s time to let go of certain behaviours or thoughts. This isn’t necessarily an instant cure, but it can be a very important first step.
And if you are lucky, your mirror self moves, holding out something from your homeworld to you. You may see as many reflections of yourself as you wish this month, but this gift from you to yourself happens only once. After you have removed the post-it and possibly received your present, your mirror self fades away and the mirror goes dark.

I NEED TO FEEL SOMETHIN' ★
Content Warnings: Sensory deprivation/loss.
The calming atmosphere of Folkmore this month may encourage people to reach out to one another, but some people are just naturally more shy and prone to introspection. For some, the temptation to stay inside and just watch the snow fall down from the sky in silence might be too enticing to resist.
The more you go into hermit mode, however, the more you will notice the world changing.
It’s very subtle at first: smells seem a little less intense, colours more washed out, music quieter. It becomes harder to physically feel things and you will become prone to dropping objects. It’s almost as if your perception is being blanketed by snow, numbing your senses. Your body will grow gradually colder as you catch the slowest chill in history.
It is possible to get frostbite from this, and to lose all of your senses, but it takes a long time - you would have to ignore it for literal weeks.
So what’s the cure? Come on. You know by now: you need to be around people. It doesn’t matter if it is people you like - you can be around your sworn enemy and it will immediately and quickly begin to reverse the effects. By the time you’ve spent an evening with someone you will be back to your old self! Whether that evening is spent hanging out and having a good time or screaming at each other is irrelevant.

QUESTION...?★
Content Warnings: Mild stalking by cute monsters.
While the days are not particularly exciting, December evenings do hold more than just hot cocoa and conversation. Both Willow and Epiphany have public ice rinks open, and there are concession stands at both selling hot drinks. Wintermute has its hot springs, and at night they are lit up with hundreds of small twinkling lights. Cruel Summer, the least affected by the cold, has dance parties thrown around bonfires that last from sundown to sunrise. You won’t be able to wear your skimpiest outfits in the cold desert air, but you should be able to stay warm enough if you stay near the fires.
Whether you choose to attend a winter event or just stay in your home, you may find yourself haunted by a rattling noise. It sounds like someone shaking seed pods, or perhaps small stones. It starts soft. Solitary. Take a look around and you’ll find the source soon enough: a small white humanoid figure with an oversized head. It doesn’t have a proper face, just large black holes to vaguely suggest eyes and a mouth. As you watch, the creature’s head tits unnaturally far to one side and then snaps back into place, making the rattling sound.
You will find that more and more of these little guys start popping up, following you wherever you go. They don’t try to hurt you or get in your way, but they still seem to be herding you somewhere… or rather, towards someone.
Yes, once you find yourself around someone else (whether you know them or not) the creatures will more or less surround you both, their heads rattling and rattling. The only thing that makes them settle down is when you and this other person get closer, physically or emotionally. And the only way to make them go away for good? You need to share something. Whether a dance, a kiss, or a secret - there must be a personal exchange of some kind. Only then will the creatures wander off, seemingly satisfied with a job well done.

Player Name: Jordan
Player Pronouns: they/them
Player Contact:
Preferred Tag Style: action, but I'll match!
Monthly Pacing: I'm going to be a little slower this month to let myself take it easy, but should get back to tags every 3 days at most
OOC Limitations/Disinterests: Shipping outside of what I've got goin' with my boys already!
Mako | Legend of Korra / CRAU | Familiar
Character Name: Mako
Permissions: 🦊 Permissions
Character Role: Familiar
🦊 Exploring ➟ Right now, Mako doesn't know what it means to be a Familiar, and I'd like him to come to terms with the fact that 1. this is a support role, and 2. he is way way better in said support role than trying to lead. I want him to explore what being a Familiar actually means about him, and what things it gives him permission to let go of.
Public Knowledge:
🦊 Relationship ➟ He's married to Wu, and that's pretty clear because they are together a lot of the time!
General CR information
Wanted CR: Get this boy some friends! Mako does best when he has people to look after / mother pigeonhen / generally big brother at. He likes to help people make better choices and is not above pointing out what people are doing wrong in an effort to "fix" them. He bounces really well off extroverted cheerful types, and equally well off morally-gray folks with complicated relationships to their own pasts. Conversations with Mako get surprisingly deep.
Unwanted CR: Romance!
Goals For Your Character:
🦊 School's In ➟ Building off that, I want Mako to start going to school! He'll start out as a student and eventually move onto teaching, but someone needs to enlighten him about the idea of... actually going to classes. He doesn't consider himself a scholarly type.
🦊 Trust Me ➟ Mako is brimming with trust issues, and I'd like longer-term for him to start to deal properly with his inherent distrust of literally everyone except for his chosen little squad.
Specific CR for the trials: Mako might hate forced intimacy, but I LOVE IT and I specifically would love for him to talk to other people about their sticky notes/cages of self. Mako has a lot that he won't want to talk about, but he thrives in talking with other people about the walls they build around themselves. Bring me your problems!!
Trial information
🦊 Feel Somethin' ➟ Mako won't be isolated himself, because, gestures at affectionate husband, but he's actually pretty good at providing quiet, nonjudgmental company. If you need someone to quietly bully your character out of freezing themselves to death, Mako's your guy. As a bonus, he's a firebender and a dragon: the boy gives off heat like a furnace!
🦊 Question...? ➟ Oh my god please let's do new CR for this prompt, Mako is SO AWKWARD and he will be so awful and awkward about being shoved into intimacy with someone and I crave it.

Re: Mako | Legend of Korra / CRAU | Familiar
--Inanna. Most likely to let you mother hen. Means well but can fuck up/trying to figure out limits. Has a lot of stuff to work through. Would open up readily for midnights/post-it.
--Jedao. More weasely about the Midnights, but possibly Mako could help draw him out. Might need help not freezing. Overall gonna be pranking people like the untitled goose. Will mostly not give a fuck about the judgments but will when they're particularly apt.
--Baphomet. Fellow fire guy. Some toxic masculinity/a lot he's working through. Also tons of trauma. Dealing with recovering from an abusive relationship that came from a codependent one when his parents died that was never the best on boundaries in the first place. Nerd & will encourage school.

Flynn Scifo | Tales of Vesperia | Familiar
Character Name: Flynn Scifo
Permissions: 🦊 Permissions
Character Role: Familiar!
🦊 Exploring ➟ Transformations! Flynn's working on turning into things that Are Not Dog and it's going... okay!
Public Knowledge:
🦊 Neighborhood ➟ Anyone in Gram probably knows that Flynn's up jogging every single morning, and will wave and say hello to literally any neighbor he has!
🦊 Classes ➟ Flynn's taking classes at basically every academy, and he's been asking around a lot about becoming a teacher! Feel free to have seen him in one of your classes, or to assume that he cornered your character if you share a course to talk about homework like the big nerd he is. He's learning diplomacy, leadership, wilderness survival, and anything about politics and policy he can get his lil paws on.
General CR information
Wanted CR:
-folks who have made Mistakes and are trying to deal with the fallout
-anyone with a complicated relationship to an authority figure
-folks with strong ideals & goals who may have lost their way
-sillier people to tease him & get him to act his damn age for once
-Shenanigans, capital S
-anyone in need of guidance / a listening ear with only a LITTLE bit of judgment about your life choices (more of this as you get to know him)
Unwanted CR: Romance
Goals For Your Character:
Trial information
Trial Reactions & Goals:
🦊 Feel Somethin' ➟ Do you need a nice dog to bully your character into being warm? Have I got the annoying stubborn jock for you! Flynn will NOT stand for people freezing themselves to death alone and he will probably both read folks a lecture about their choices to self-isolate while also shoving himself into their lap as a dog to warm them up. I'm v v interested in this prompt, even for new CR!
🦊 Question...? ➟ Flynn will be a bit awkward and red-faced about any forced intimacy, but he'll gladly give a hug or a little gentle kiss on the forehead, even if he'll be weird and embarrassed about it!
🦊 General ➟ Winter & stars & coziness really do it for Flynn—he loves this shit—so he's going to be getting folks gifts and going ice-skating and generally having a wonderful time, please do cozy shit with him!!
no subject
IDK I think ice skating together could be fun since he's from a warmer country and has no idea how (this will go as badly and roller skating did).
no subject
He's peppy
He's giving you a thumbs-up and a wave to come join him
SURE it's only just now dawn, that's when the cool kids are jogging, Varen!!!
The secret is that Flynn is going to be excessively confident in his ice-skating abilities and this will be backed up by absolutely nothing so perhaps they can figure it out together?

Okay, I love this idea! Two dudes with arms flailing trying to work out how to balance.

Re: Flynn Scifo | Tales of Vesperia | Familiar
Baphomet I think it could be funny... is trying to explain he's trying to make it better (semi-public part of the Underground) but also needs help and thus stubborn doggo gonna stubborn. And he's like "i guess????"
XD
no subject
Listen sometimes it is hard to need help that is very understandable, needing help makes you weak (no it doesn't) (this is a lie)— but legit I'd LOVE for him and Baphomet to talk about how hard it is to get vulnerable while he's working on building his space, maybe they could get herded together??
no subject
Baphomet: no it literally makes you weak. If you'd like we could handwave a trip through the underground to hide from the stars last week, so that way Flynn has "already" been to that part of the Underground and can get herded that way? Actually we could do that or not, if Baphomet accidentally shows some spirits the way... they can herd Flynn independently. Either works!
