December 2022 Trial Event Plotting
Trial 8 Plotting Post
Welcome to our plotting post for this month's event! This plotting page doubles as our monthly CR meme. If you have questions about the trial, ask them below.
All the glitter from November has faded away, but the shinning stars remained, leaving the night sky bright all through the month. Kuma Lisa is still the current iteration of Thirteen, however characters will often see her in her Fox form that has now turned pure white to match the snow that covers most of the land (with the exception of Cruel Summer).
The nights are much longer than before and the cold outside makes Star Children want to cuddle up with someone to keep warm. Despite the cold, however, the night will feel always beautiful and peaceful, which the Star Children might find comforting. Every night paper lanterns will be released to light the streets and stores all around Folkmore; these will magically remain in place until the end of the night, rather than floating away. When the day comes, they will rise up and disappear.
The days, in contrast, will feel a bit more grey and listless. There won't be a lot of light and everything seems a lot slower than usual, lacking the spirit of the night. Star children may feel a bit more depressed than usual but if they reach out to others this feeling may be eased.
Feel free to use the following form for your plotting and CR needs.

MIDNIGHTS
★
The calm, cozy vibe that settles over Folkmore in December also encourages people to reach out to others. For some that might mean visiting a select few friends, for others it may mean throwing dinner parties or other get-togethers. Especially in the evenings, the urge to be with someone else is common.
And really, lounging around in a nice warm house with someone to talk to is such a lovely way to spend your time. Why, you might get to talking and the next thing you know the clock is chiming midnight.
What’s that? You don’t have a clock? Oh. Well. There’s a chiming noise anyway! Accompanying this is the sudden appearance of a full-length mirror. It may be suddenly hanging on the wall, or appear in the doorway when you get up to use the washroom. It’s somewhere, and when you find it you’ll see yourself smiling back at you. Even if you’re not a smiler.
Your reflection is obscured, however, by a powder blue post-it note stuck on the surface of the mirror. On the post-it, in your own handwriting, is a word, or a phrase, or maybe several thoughts quickly jotted down. It may even be a drawing. However it is articulated, the content of the note is very simply some personal issue of your own making, something that holds you back in life. It is, in words or pictures, one of your self-made cages.
If you cannot see any of this, that’s alright - your companion probably can, and will no doubt relay all of this information to you.
This could be awkward for you, seeing something so personal laid out so simply in front of someone else. Or maybe you’re at the point where you just don’t care anymore. Talking about it can be very beneficial - you will feel lighter, more free, and more emotionally stable.
When you pull the post-it off of the mirror you will feel an intense relief as some part of you accepts that it’s time to let go of certain behaviours or thoughts. This isn’t necessarily an instant cure, but it can be a very important first step.
And if you are lucky, your mirror self moves, holding out something from your homeworld to you. You may see as many reflections of yourself as you wish this month, but this gift from you to yourself happens only once. After you have removed the post-it and possibly received your present, your mirror self fades away and the mirror goes dark.

I NEED TO FEEL SOMETHIN' ★
Content Warnings: Sensory deprivation/loss.
The calming atmosphere of Folkmore this month may encourage people to reach out to one another, but some people are just naturally more shy and prone to introspection. For some, the temptation to stay inside and just watch the snow fall down from the sky in silence might be too enticing to resist.
The more you go into hermit mode, however, the more you will notice the world changing.
It’s very subtle at first: smells seem a little less intense, colours more washed out, music quieter. It becomes harder to physically feel things and you will become prone to dropping objects. It’s almost as if your perception is being blanketed by snow, numbing your senses. Your body will grow gradually colder as you catch the slowest chill in history.
It is possible to get frostbite from this, and to lose all of your senses, but it takes a long time - you would have to ignore it for literal weeks.
So what’s the cure? Come on. You know by now: you need to be around people. It doesn’t matter if it is people you like - you can be around your sworn enemy and it will immediately and quickly begin to reverse the effects. By the time you’ve spent an evening with someone you will be back to your old self! Whether that evening is spent hanging out and having a good time or screaming at each other is irrelevant.

QUESTION...?★
Content Warnings: Mild stalking by cute monsters.
While the days are not particularly exciting, December evenings do hold more than just hot cocoa and conversation. Both Willow and Epiphany have public ice rinks open, and there are concession stands at both selling hot drinks. Wintermute has its hot springs, and at night they are lit up with hundreds of small twinkling lights. Cruel Summer, the least affected by the cold, has dance parties thrown around bonfires that last from sundown to sunrise. You won’t be able to wear your skimpiest outfits in the cold desert air, but you should be able to stay warm enough if you stay near the fires.
Whether you choose to attend a winter event or just stay in your home, you may find yourself haunted by a rattling noise. It sounds like someone shaking seed pods, or perhaps small stones. It starts soft. Solitary. Take a look around and you’ll find the source soon enough: a small white humanoid figure with an oversized head. It doesn’t have a proper face, just large black holes to vaguely suggest eyes and a mouth. As you watch, the creature’s head tits unnaturally far to one side and then snaps back into place, making the rattling sound.
You will find that more and more of these little guys start popping up, following you wherever you go. They don’t try to hurt you or get in your way, but they still seem to be herding you somewhere… or rather, towards someone.
Yes, once you find yourself around someone else (whether you know them or not) the creatures will more or less surround you both, their heads rattling and rattling. The only thing that makes them settle down is when you and this other person get closer, physically or emotionally. And the only way to make them go away for good? You need to share something. Whether a dance, a kiss, or a secret - there must be a personal exchange of some kind. Only then will the creatures wander off, seemingly satisfied with a job well done.

Jayce Talis | Arcane | Legend
Player Name: Lylith.
Player Pronouns: She/her.
Player Contact:
Preferred Tag Style: Action/Prose - both are good, I'll adapt to other people's preferences.
Monthly Pacing: Due to the holidays, I'll either have more free time or no time at all, orz, sorry is hard to tell this month but I'll try to keep up.
OOC Limitations/Disinterests: Graphic descriptions of gore or extreme violence are not my thing but I can deal with anything as long as it comes with the appropriate CW.
General character information
Character Name: Jayce Talis.
Permissions: 🦊 Permissions 🦊 Opt-Out
Character Role: Legend.
🦊 Exploring ➟ The color-changing eyes are going to give him a lot of grief, so I'd like to explore how that affects his interactions with other people.
Public Knowledge: The way he looks, and that he is a scientist/inventor/engineer because this nerd will talk people's ears off about science or magic. He also doesn't hide the fact that he is a legend, but his butterfly wings make him a little self-conscious for being so different.
General CR information
Wanted CR:
➟ I'm a sucker for more friends and found family stuff.
➟ Does anybody need a big brother who is a bit of a mother hen? Jayce's got u.
➟ People to be a science/magic nerd with.
➟Back home Jayce is with Mel and has a complicated relationship with Viktor, and he is a disaster when it comes to his feeling. It would be fantastic if someone at some point could explain to him that Polyamory is a thing, and it's great and good.
Unwanted CR: Negative CR for the sake of negative Cr that goes nowhere or has little reason to exist. Negative CR to move the plot forward
or because it's funnyit's more than okay.Goals For Your Character:
🦊 Goal/Arc ➟ He's saving spoons to get a lab/forge building to go back to the roots of what Viktor, and he, wanted to do: create inventions that help others. This would tie in with him working to be a better person/achieve his true potential, whatever that means.
Trial information
Trial Accomplishments:
🦊 Trial Accomplishment ➟ If you need someone to warm you up in the I need to feel somethin' prompt, he's your guy. Jayce is very physically affectionate in general and hates being cold like you wouldn't believe.
🦊 Trial Accomplishment ➟ Someone please teach this man how to ice-skate....
Timeline of Trials: Free gaming, yeah

He will happily share with Flynn what he knows about magic, even if he's studying it in this world as well and really appreciate the help with the ice-skating. even if he's more likely to end up flat on his back in the ice more often than not. Woops.

but like while ice-skating, he's fine, don't even worry about it

Uh huh. Sure, everyone's fine here. /hello darkness my old friend.mp3

She might see him fall on his ass more than once.

Probably.

Honestly, she should, haha.

Also I would love stuff with Christine! She is such a magic nerd and I think either him feeding her a terrible dinner that she offers to fix because she's a good cook, or needing warmed up because she's lonely would work.

In his thread with Viktor, the man mentioned that Jayce's eyes change colors, so he is aware that it happens now, just not that it is a Legend thing. But she can mention it to him too, of course.
Since they have yet to meet, Jayce inviting her over might be a bit strange (even if her helping him cook sounds super sweet, we can always do it in the future) so how about we go for the warming up/lonely people? Helping each other stay cozy :3
no subject
Oh, okay! I'll still do it so it can be out there for his general knowledge.
That works perfectly. I think I misread your plotting comment that he was open to inviting everyone, but yeah since they haven't met it wouldn't really make sense yet. Someday, though! Cooking lessons for sure. In the meantime, he can deal with her denying that she's freezing as her lips turn blue, lol.

Honestly all of them sound good to me, even if the 'question...?' one with the forest spirits might creep Jayce out because 'WHY ARE THEY MAKING THAT WEIRD NOISE WITH THEIR HEADS? Should we call a doctor???'. But really I am game for anything, just let me know what you would like best o7

Re: Jayce Talis | Arcane | Legend
I'd love for Jayce to be involved in the handling of Worst!Gideon. Also whatever feels he has over the whole two Gideons thing.
Baphomet is a huge nerd. He just got a magical healing talent aaaaaaaaaand I realized that he uh... sorta oopsy daisy has some of it already? He just didn't realize it? So in a way it's a boost. (he heals some wounds later in WicDiv than when he's from, but like... thoughtlessly). So nerding together and helping Viktor kinda plot.
Jedao & Inanna can BOTH introduce you to the concept of polyamory. It's the norm where Jedao is from, and it's what Inanna is/does. So yes both. Also I love Inanna just inserting himself into things with them, and I'd love for Jayce to end up as a big brother like found family for him. <333 Jayce also can potentially help Jedao out with feeling something. He'll be freaking out about it because trauma.
no subject
Yes, he'd like to help! And commiserate with Normal! Gideon about how much it sucks being a ghost once it's all over. Do you have anything planned about how to make her go back to her body? to be fair...I'm not sure if he's noticed yet that Gideon is acting differently. Maybe Harrow needs to be brought up in a conversation with worst!Gideon? That way, depending on her answer, Jayce might notice.
Oh! Baphomet, my man, that is very useful you should work on that healing talent, plz. Jayce would gladly give whatever Baphomet wants in exchange for the help (within reason, but you get me). Yes to nerding together, Please tech this man more modern slang or something.
Same with Inanna, I love him, he's so understanding and sweet, but also funny. Jedao was very interesting when their first talked, I look forward to more conversations with them both, especially about relationships and whatnot.
What do you mean he can like more than one person and not feel shit about it???? Sounds fake but okay.
I think that for the event I'll end up making a top-level/mingle log with Jayce inviting his cr (basically people he had talked with at least once) to come to have dinner at his house. Maybe with the options for other people to mingle around among each other, since that could be fun too.
I so want more things and possible family shenanigans with Inanna, and oh, poor Jedao. trauma is bad.
no subject
Short answer yes, got a plan! And Jayce just feels right up the alley.
Re: healing, yes Baphomet would like stuff in return. This is partly because uh work deserves pay and also because he thinks he's sorta using power that's killing him, so he deserves it because he's using his death to help you (he's not dying, Jayce, but he doesn't know that). #irony.
But yay dinner. Lol Jedao showing up because, uh, he's starting to freak out and lose sensation. What a great reason to dinner... And yes Inanna is just like "??? why would you feel bad??? about liking someone??? Liking someone is a good thing yes? Every time it happens."
