I'll have to be the judge of that. ( he gets up to pull some ingredients out from the refrigerator. ) I'm really not that great at it myself, but I think I'm a pretty decent cook. ( well, no one's actually complained to his face about it. he knows hank, raven and erik don't quite enjoy his cooking. after all, he is a telepath. but he doesn't think it's that bad. they're just fussy. )

Let's see. ( he thinks about it for a bit. no meat. he'd completely forgotten to purchase that at the market. ) Well. I'll make us a vegetable lasagna. ( and he'll insist that steve sits and relaxes while he sets about cooking. and while he's doing that, he'll talk about his time at oxford and how he almost burned down the kitchenette once, and that time he completely forgot about the cake he was baking in the oven and found it a whole two weeks later. hilarious, isn't it?

one hour later, and steve is presented with this salty dish. enjoy. )

[ He's uh, concerned, but still cautiously optimistic as Charles goes on about his days at Oxford. He's so charming and such a naturally charismatic speaker, that it's relaxing to listen to his stories.

Well, except that he forgot about a cake he was making for two weeks. How did he forget that? How did he nearly burn the kitchen down? ]

Well it smells great. Thanks so much for making food, Charles.

[ He digs in and - wow, that's salty. Yikes. He swallows down, and clears his throat. ]

( while steve is eating the lasagna, charles will have a slice of that apple pie. it just seems like such a shame to not have a taste of it at least. and because steve says it's not bad, charles will let him know that he can have as much of the lasagna as he'd like. he knows he's got a big appetite. he'll then go on to talk to steve about what he'd missed about the 40s to 60s, mostly to do with books and music. more tea will be offered and then it's time for charles to head over to the orchard before it gets too late. he needs to collect those apples. but he'll tell steve to not be a stranger and to drop by whenever he's in the neighborhood. they're friends now. )
