Button-downs are nice. Always in fashion and can be tailored. But y'might wanna try a sweater or two? No garish colors, somethin' earth-toned like cream or shades of brown and green.

Sweater might be nice for the cold. I'll layer it over the shirt.

That's always in style, as long as you don't mind the whole preppy, Ivy League thing. Which I don't mind, even though they're always a reminder of what coulda been. It's still a real handsome combo.

Awww, it don't matter none! I never went to high school! But I could see pictures in the magazines and catalogues and that was enough t'help me to understand. Just act confident and none are gonna say nothin'.

I like that one. That's way better than th'other one. It's fall, why not wear fall colors?

Well, 'cause then I'd have to get all new clothes for winter and spring.

Maybe? Somethin' even more warm for winter and lighter stuff fer spring. T'be honest, I've never really had t'think about the weather and clothes b'fore, I kin usually wear the same stuff all year round back home. But here...this feels like a real fall, so we'll prob'ly get a real winter, too.

I'm used to a full four seasons. Will you be all right for winter? I imagine it's gonna be real cold. And there might be some snow.

[ He's not trying to condescend or anything, but snow's pretty hard to walk on if someone's not used to it, and he's used to people really underestimating how cold cold is. ]
