Well enough, all things considered. It's a little awkward, and yes, strange, but he's been friendly. Given time I may even get along with him better without that old first impression in Marquet.

That's good to hear. Vax is generally thought the friendly of the two of us, but it's always easier to get him to like you if you don't insult him right at the beginning.

Don't worry. You got Percy to like you a great deal. Vax is much easier.

That's pretty impressive, considering I do think he very nearly killed me that first day.

And that was just an initiation with him and Grog. They weren't even fully serious.

Is that meant to make me feel better?

No. I was simply stating that if they really wanted to hurt you, they would have. Although, I know that Vax wanted to teach you a lesson and that's why he did that at all.

He certainly succeeded there, that's for sure.

Well, at least now you're a much larger part of the team and he can't teach you another lesson that might harm you again.

It's alright. Considering what happened in Hell, he was showing me the truth of things. I needed to know it. And he did protect me, like he said he would.

Well, being an adventurer isn't easy and I felt bad for the way that we sort of threw you into the deep end with finishing up Keyleth's Aramenté. I'm jus glad that we were all able to come back from that, mostly okay.

Our trip through the Nine Hells... That was definitely more like what we were used to doing by that point. And of course he protected you. You're one of us.

He didn't have to. I didn't really deserve to be one of you until at least that point, did I? You'd have to be blind not to see the difference. Looking back I'm very fortunate to not have been robbed blind and left for dead somewhere on the road. ...Not by you all, of course, but in general.

I suppose not, and you were rather insufferable, but honestly, you were just a young man who needed to meet reality. I think Vax and Percy both saw something in you that resonated in them.

Darling, you were very lucky to have run into us in Ank'Harel when you did. We'd just saved most of Tal'dorei and we were feeling a little vulnerable, even with that. I think it was just serendipitous for everyone involved.

I was very lucky, yes. I won't ever deny that now. I'm not sure what I would have done if I'd had to carry on alone. Or go home empty-handed, gods forbid.

Look at us. We've all grown, and together as well. You showing up actually did help us. Besides, you'll never have to worry about what you would have done otherwise. What ifs seem sort of silly in the grand scheme of things, don't you think?

A little silly, yes. Though I am an author- inventing stories in my head about all manner of situations is kind of what I do.

Regardless, I do apologize for my ignorance at that time. You were still grieving the loss of that other friend of yours, weren't you?

I thought you were writing a story about your life. If it's an autobiography, you don't need to know what things would be like had you not met us.

Although, if you don't name me the most gorgeous and generous of all your friends, I will be very disappointed in you.

As for what you did, I think you actually helped all of us not to focus on what happened with Scanlan. As I said, you helped us as much as we helped you. It was just different.

You've got me there.

And fear not! Yours shall be the most beautiful description in the entire book! After mine, of course. Not just your physical appearance, but the beautiful friendship you have gifted to me. The world must know!

If I helped, then I'm glad of it. Looking back, you had seemed quite unhappy at times when talking of things I didn't understand or experience. You all deserved a break from that.

Well, darling, not all of us can have beautiful flowing golden locks. Some of us must settle for rich, dark brown.

And I want you to know that I cherish our friendship as well. Even with our rough start, I appreciate everything we've done for us. And while you're not Scanlan, I never expected you to be, so I hope you don't feel like any of us want you to be him.

You've only dyed my bear blue, not attempted to feed him poisoned meat.

Wait. Hold on. He tried to poison Trinket??

[He's a bit slobbery and Taryon isn't super keen on him yet the way the rest are, but he doesn't hate the bear.

How is Scanlan alive-]

Yes, more than once, from what Grog told me.

[The only reason Scanlan has lived as long as he has is because he's incredibly lucky and other people have stopped him from this very terrible thing because Vex would have surely killed him had he succeeded.]

However, Grog is at least fonder of Trinket than Scanlan and hasn't let it happen. Besides, I stopped letting him try to give him anything to consume EVER.

Well, rest assured I most certainly would never poison Trinket. I value my life. ...And also how important he is to you, of course.
