[Natsume has never flipped anyone off in his life, but if he ever did, he'd probably make a similar expression to the one he has now.]

Spectacular. [Crawling across the roof now.] Explain again why you live here now?

There's nothing for me on the ground. [If it wasn't already obvious? Kyle is not exactly sober. So yeah, he drunk parkoured himself up here.]

You ever just embarrass yourself so badly you wanna die?

[It should've been obvious, but Natsume is kind of a dumbass so it takes him actually breathing in the alcohol scent to understand. Then he's carefully settling himself between Kyle and the edge of the roof, just in case.]

Oh dear. [Heavy sigh, and a conciliatory cat tail draped across Kyle's shoulders.] Do you want to tell me what happened?

[Continued shoulder-patting.] It was fine, just taking a walk. Stretching my legs. Thinking.

Mmmm, probably because you've been drinking, and not water, so you're dehydrated. [The mom has become the mommed! My, my, how the turn tables.]

Thank you. It has it's uses. [Like twitching until it's hanging down in Kyle's face and swishing across his nose.]

Yeah. Yeah, but like. I'm allowed. I'm an adult.

[Which just sets him giggling.] I see that. It's great. You guys are so great.

[natzoom]

Mmm, yes, you are, good job. [So adult. The adulty-est.

Since laughter is better than Batman-ing, Natsume just keeps tickling Kyle's nose with his tail.] So are you. This place would fall apart without you.

[Yeah, although be careful not to get him cackling TOO hard or he might roll off the roof.]

No it wouldn't. But thank you. For just believing in me. Even if I'm am idiot asshole.

[natzoom]

[That's why Natsume is gently grabbing onto his shirt. Cause his tiny little noodle arms are gonna be able to stop that.]

It would too! Revelry in the firepits, people setting off fireworks in dry grass. We need you down there.

[Noseboop with the tail.] Nobody thinks that about you, except the cruel things in your head.

Oh my god, they're not really setting off fireworks are they?! [SO DISTRESSING!]

Right, right, but I didn't mean it in a BAD way exactly. Just like a, hey sometimes I'm a dumbass way.

What do you think is romantic?

They are. Yuri did. [Absolutely no loyalty, this guy. Throw a fellow catboy under the bus.]

I see. Sometimes it's tricky to tell if you mean things jokingly or if you're being mean to yourself.

Objectively or to me specifically?

Well. Sometimes it is mean. But mostly only if it's physical.

Mmmmm, objectively I'd say...giving people gifts or saying things you wouldn't normally say, or doing big grand gestures is romantic, isn't it? [He absently grabs his tail and pulls it into his lap, so Kyle doesn't have to breathe in cat fluff.] For me, though, I find someone just spending time with me much more romantic. Someone bothering to listen to the things I say and remembering them. Maybe my standards are a bit different.

He's in so much trouble...

No. I like your standards. I like those things, too. I don't like grand gestures - they never seem to work out. I, uhm, I wrote a song once, for a girl I liked when I was little.

[natzoom]

[Smug catface.] You should ground him. Take away his sword.

If they're too grand, it's just overwhelming, in my opinion. It's better to have it be...smaller, but more genuine. [Cue a soft gasp.] A song? That's so nice, Kyle!

Yeah, exactly! More genuine and less embarrassing.

Well, I was like... eight. It was a terrible song.
