Spoons
Spending Spoons
The Power of Lore (and your tags)
Instead of AC, we encourage our players to put their tags to good use via the currency system in-game. Every tag you write earns your character one spoon that can be spent on game goodies! Spoons allow characters to eat, clothe themselves, obtain items from home, build businesses, and so much more!
Your character is provided with a unique spoon upon arrival. This spoon collects energy known as Lore that keeps the entire world and everything in it running! Lore is generated directly via interactions between sentient beings.
This Lore is used as a high-value currency good between characters, NPCs, and the setting itself since characters can rely on Lore to summon unusual items from home or other worlds.
Using your spoons is completely optional. We do not require people to track spoons. This is to encourage players to use their tags productively in-game to create a more immersive experience.
Unless discussed with and approved by the mods, please directly link to threads in comments on this post to make purchases.
Your spending requests will be processed by a mod and you will receive an approval or adjustment message. Please reach out if you have been waiting for longer than a week on an approval.
You can use this form to keep general track of your tags per month so that you don't need to hunt down 500 tags when you finally choose to spend them. You can treat it like a "regular AC" page without the pressure of time restraints. For your proofs, please try to remember to link to your character's specific thread rather than the top level you tagged into (unless it's your top level of course!). Thank you!
Parameters of Spending Spoons
If you ever need assistance or require clarification, just ask down below and a mod will get to you ASAP.
★ 1 tag from your character = 1 spoon for your character.
★ Once you have spent spoons, you will have to gain them back through new tags.
★ Tags can be traded in for spoons at any time. There will be no time/month requirements. You can save up tags over the course of multiple months and spend them all at once or spend them as you go.
★ Tags must come from the log or network communities, our game's TDMs, or character inboxes associated with our game.
★ If you drop and decide to reapply as the same character later, you can keep the stuff your character previously owned if it has been 3 months since you were in-game. If it has been longer than 3 months, you will have to start fresh.
★ Apply real-world spending logic to generic items. The more complex an item or the more valuable, the more spoons it should cost. If your character eats a standard cheeseburger, then it will likely cost 5 spoons. If they ate a gourmet steak dinner, then it will likely cost 20 spoons.
★ We do operate on a good faith system in that we won't ask you to record or calculate every instance your character would realistically spend spoons on things like food. We give these generalized prices more for helping people get an idea of how the spoons work - not as a strict stipulation.
Characters would realistically have hundreds of interactions that could feed and clothe them and we understand that! So don't worry about keeping track of every burger your character eats.
★ You cannot give each other spoons, but your character can spend spoons on other characters. This applies to anything ICly purchased (meaning: excludes welcome committee and soulmate slots).
★ ICly, characters can spend their spoons by touching spoons to transfer Lore. To "summon" items from other worlds, they will require some container of water, place their spoon inside, and imagine what they want. The item will appear out of raw Lore energy. It would be wise to summon big items in big spaces.

Grand Gains
Grand Gains provide unique properties and are special to the setting. They can be used to alter your character or small elements of reality. You can also purchase additional invite slots through Grand Gains! Grand Gains may require certain circumstances to be met on top of spoons spent.
You can purchase multiple Grand Gains at a time as long as the base requirements are met. Some Gains may be lost if you drop out of game.
1 Additional Invite (100 Spoons)
OOC purchase ★ OOC reward★ Must be in-game for at least 3 consecutive months.
★ Can invite another person during the invite period. You will need to link to your purchase when inviting.
All invites are subject to adjustment if the mods feel it necessary.
1 Welcoming Committee Slot (100 Spoons)
OOC purchase ★ OOC reward★ Player involved must be in-game for at least 3 consecutive months.
★ Tags with new CR are worth x3 the number of spoons (ie: Character A & New Character B's thread of 8 tags is now worth 24 spoons). Can be collected on TDMs or just tagging to new interactions in game.
★ Functions via the character you purchase this for. If you bought this for John but not Paul, then only John will get x3 spoons per new interaction. If you bought this for both your characters, then both will get x3 spoons per new interaction.
★ If the character drops, the Welcoming Committee bonus will be dissolved. This will need to be repurchased if the same character apps back into the game.
1 Soul Mate Slot (100 Spoons)
OOC purchase ★ IC & OOC rewardsThis allows for a unique Soul Mate connection between 2+ characters. This can be for romantic, platonic, or another type of Soul Mate.
★ All players involved must purchase a soul mate slot individually for the respective character(s).
★ You can purchase multiple types of Soul Mate slots at the same time, but each variety requires its own purchase (ie; if you want the String of Fate and Colorless types then it will cost 200 spoons).
★ Tags between the involved characters are worth x3 the number of spoons (ie: Soul Mate A & Soul Mate B's thread of 8 tags is now worth 24 spoons). If either party drops at any point, this slot must be re-purchased by both.
★ The Soul Mate x3 bonus can stack with either the Marriage or Adoption x2 bonus for a total worth of x5.
★ If one character drops from the Soul Mate equation, the Soul Mate connection will be dissolved. This will need to be repurchased if the same character apps back into the game.
There are a few different types of connections that can be forged through the Soul Mate slot. Each connection provides a different type of connection. You can add small adjustments to these types. You don't need to stick strictly to what we have listed. As long as it fits in the type and doesn't lift from the other types it's fine!
Soul Mate connections cannot be destroyed but if players are no longer interested then they can have the Soul Mate connection "fade" icly.
Here are the types:
🦊 String of Fate: The characters have a red string connected between their pinkies that only the characters involved can see. This string allows the characters to find each other no matter the circumstance.
🦊 First Words: The first words that were spoken to each other will be imprinted somewhere on the character's bodies. These characters will be incapable of lying to each other.
🦊 Names: The names of each character will be imprinted somewhere on the other character's body. This can be a full name, a common nickname, or otherwise. If these characters call out each other's names, they can amplify the strength and health of the other character.
🦊 Painted Words: If a character writes on their own skin, the message will appear on the other's skin. The words will fade after the scribe washes them off their own body.
🦊 Marks: A unique mark/design is imprinted on the character's body that in some way matches their Soul Mate's. This can be either done through the exact same image or a mark that "completes" or compliments the other (ie; someone having a stylistic flame and the other having a stylistic snowflake - both matching.)
🦊 Touch Impression: When the Soul Mates touch each other, they leave temporary colored marks on the skin that can be seen by everyone. This includes showing up over clothing. Touching each other feels extremely comforting and pleasant. The longer they touch, the longer the color lasts. Colors can vary.
🦊 Eyes: All characters involved will have a mixture of their canon eye color with the canon eye color of their soul mate. This will allow for a psychic connection between the characters when they make eye contact.
🦊 Pain Inducement: All characters involved will not feel their own injuries but they will feel any injury their soul mate receives.
🦊 Colorless: The world is gray and dull unless their Soul Mate is around and then the world is colorful and vibrant. Other senses may be elevated at this time as well such as smell or sounds.
🦊 Amplifier: All characters involved feel an extreme boost in power when in sight of one another. The closer the characters physically are, the more powerful they become. This can physically alter appearances, create a visible energy field around them, etc.
🦊 Meter: Characters have a "meter" of each other's well being. This can be on their skin in the form of a heartbeat or an internal meter that lets them know if the other is sick, healthy, in danger, hurting, sleeping, etc.
Please fill out the following form in addition to your spoon count:
1 Power Addition (400 Spoons)
IC or OOC purchase ★ IC rewardIf you would like to give your character new abilities through the setting such as advancing them through their Role, please use the following form in addition to your spending. If your character gains new abilities through updates or game events you do NOT need to use this form. This is purely for players who came up with their own ideas on their own time and want to apply it to their character.
This will buy your character one major power upgrade. This can include a "general" ability that can be used in a variety of ways such as giving them "ice powers" that can do a variety of things.
★ If you drop and reapply, you can only keep this power addition if you include it in your updated application as part of a Folkmore CRAU upgrade.
★ ICly, the character can gain their new ability by surprise, or they may do so by heading to the schools and asking Thirteen for it.
1 Unique Building Purchase (300 Spoons)
IC or OOC purchase ★ IC rewardThis can be used for a variety of reasons:
★ A building with high magical properties.
★ A building with high science-fiction properties.
★ Canon homes.
★ A unique home that your character would not be able to build or find in Folkmore.
When purchasing this slot please provide some details about the building and clarify if it will be used for personal homing or a character shop.
1 Marriage Slot (100 Spoons)
IC purchase ★ IC & OOC rewardsA marriage slot provides characters with a "certified" version of their marriage in Folkmore. Marriage slots can be purchased for relationships involving 2+ characters.
★ All players involved must be in game for at least 3 consecutive months.
★ All players involved must purchase a marriage slot individually for the respective character(s).
★Tags between the involved characters are worth x2 the number of spoons (ie: Husband & Husband's thread of 8 tags is now worth 16 spoons). If either party drops at any point, this slot must be re-purchased by both.
★ The Marriage x2 bonus can stack with the Soul Mate x3 bonus for a total worth of x5.
★ If one character drops from the Marriage equation, the Marriage connection will be dissolved. This will need to be repurchased if the same character apps back into the game.
ICly: This Marriage Slot will involve characters placing their spoons together over select objects that will serve to represent their union (ie; rings, necklaces, charms, swords, whatever). One per person involved in the Marriage Union. The items can be anything but most elect to have it be something that can be worn.
This enchanted item will provide a steady connection with your spouse when you touch the item. Touching the item will let you know if they are safe, injured, or need help whether it's help getting a jar from the top shelf or help because they are dying in a ditch.
Touching the enchanted item will also let you know exactly what your spouse desires at any given time. Unsure about what to make for dinner for them? Touch your enchanted item to find out! Definitely helps to keep your spouse happy!
These enchanted items are extremely sturdy but can be lost. A new item would have to be enchanted with a new Marriage Slot purchase. The enchanted item is impervious to any damage except if the characters intentionally break their enchanted items to signify a desire to end the relationship.
This would result in a 'divorce' and would render all enchanted items ineffective from that point on. The Marriage Slot would need to be re-purchased if the characters change their mind.
Enchanted Items will have a heavy presence of Lore and maintain a faint golden glow while in effect. Once you select an item, it cannot be changed unless another slot is purchased for another item.
1 Adoption Slot (100 Spoons)
IC purchase ★ IC & OOC rewardsAdoption slots should be purchased for both sides via the adoptee and adopted.
★ All players involved must be in-game for at least 3 consecutive months.
★ All players involved must purchase an adoption slot individually for the respective character(s).
★ Tags between the involved characters are worth x2 the number of spoons (ie: Father & Child's thread of 8 tags is now worth 16 spoons). If either party drops at any point, this slot must be re-purchased by both.
★ The Adoption x2 bonus can stack with the Soul Mate x3 bonus for a total worth of x5.
★ If one character drops from the Adoption equation, the Adoption connection will be dissolved. This will need to be repurchased if the same character apps back into the game.
ICly: This slot will be achieved through characters pooling their spoons together of a variety of significant comfort items. This can include things like blankets, stuffed animals, or a beloved old cardigan.
When held, this item will grant enormous comfort to both ends of the Adoption Slot. Each character will have their own comfort item that reminds them of the others in their adopted family structure. If they clutch these items during times of great stress, they can help lead their adopted family members to find them even if they are completely lost.
These items can be lost but they cannot be damaged. Adoption links are permanent. If you no longer want to use them, you can merely put the item away and out of reach. Otherwise, there is no way to destroy this connection.
1 Safe Space (300 Spoons)
IC purchase ★ IC & OOC rewardsA safe space slot allows the character to access a pocket dimension that represents a place where they feel safe and protected. This is a completely safe place. It provides a way to escape emotional, mental or physical harm, and characters inside their safe space will feel enormous comfort and peace. Other characters can access it by invitation only, and the friend must accept the invitation in order to enter. Characters cannot be harmed while inside, but they will need to leave to acquire real sustenance. Players are welcome to decide what their character's safe space looks like.
★ In order to purchase this, the player must be in game for at least 3 consecutive months.
★ Tags between characters sharing a safe space are worth x2 the number of spoons.
ICly: To access their safe space all characters must desire to go there, then they each need to hold their spoon and wish to be somewhere safe, calm, and where they can feel at ease.
In order to bring along another character the owner of the safe space must wish to bring along their companion, their companion must wish to join them, and they must be sharing a physical touch with each other — a handshake, a hug, a kiss, etc.
The character (or both characters) will arrive at the safe place and are allowed to stay there for as long as they need to. There will always be a door which will allow characters to exit if they want to.
Optional: While inside the safe space, characters may experience a Soul Mate link of the player's choosing. This link will only work while inside the safe place, and once characters exit the link will disappear. Please note, this is entirely optional, and safe spaces do not have to be romantic or soulmate-related in nature. Because these are temporary links, if characters aren't already soulmates, the amount of the spoon does not multiply by 3.
1 Shared Safe Space (150 Spoons)
IC purchase ★ IC & OOC rewardsThis will be a safe place as described above that will be shared by two or more characters. This safe space will be related to and owned by all characters involved and all players are welcome to decide together how they wish their characters' safe space looks like. Other characters can also access it by invitation from all owners of this safe place.
★ All players involved must be in-game for at least 3 consecutive months.
★ All players involved must purchase a shared safe space slot individually for the respective character(s).
★ This shared safe space can be between two or more characters.
★ Tags between characters sharing a safe space are worth x2 the number of spoons.
ICly: To access their safe space all characters must desire to go there, then they each need to hold their spoon and wish to be somewhere safe, calm, and where they can feel at ease.

1 Child Slot (500 Spoons)
IC purchase ★ IC rewardCharacters cannot have children via typical biological means but characters can "summon" a child using the Power of Lore. This child can be a genetic copy of their parent, a combination of 2+ characters' genetic material, or be a randomized child.
★ Player(s) must be in-game for at least 6 consecutive months
★ Please obtain permission from all parties involved in the child is going to be the genetic product of 2+ characters.
★ Every Child requires one slot. If you want twins, you need to pay 1,000 spoons and fill out a form for each.
★ When you purchase the Child Slot, you will be responsible for the child's development in game even if they consent to other players using the child as a general NPC. You will also be responsible for the consistent voice of the child.
★ Your Child will be attached to the character who has summoned it in terms of how spoons operate.
★ If you decide you no longer want the child but do not want to remove it from the setting violently, you can choose to have them "brought back to the stars" and turned into starlight, releasing the Power of Lore that keeps them tangible.
★ The child will not occupy a character slot and you will not be required to make a journal or do check-ins with them. However, if you do choose to make a journal for them, please let us know so we can accept them into the communities.
ICly: In order to summon the child, the parent will proceed the same way as if they were summoning an item from home: they must place their spoon inside a container of water, and imagine what they want. The child will appear out of raw Lore energy in the form the character feels most comfortable with (see the ways to summon a child below). For children that are a mix of two characters, these characters must also ICly consent to the child.
Children can either age as babies typically would or alternatively have accelerated aging so players can play them as actual characters. We ask that accelerated children be no older than 10 years old.
There are several types of summoning, and all options except the Star can take anywhere from a few weeks to a few months for the Child to be properly developed:
🦊 The Egg: The Child is summoned in the form of a large egg. The egg must be kept warm and safe. The egg can have any pattern or appearance.
🦊 The Container: The Child is summoned in the form of a clear container similar to those seen in Death Stranding. This is a more horror-based option. The Child is provided all essential nutrients through the Container and reacts to stimuli. You can hear its cries/noises. It seems to be especially reactive to unseen enemies.
🦊 The Sac: The Child is summoned in the form of a fleshy sac that attaches itself to the abdomen of a character. This is the most similar option to typical biological pregnancy without the invasiveness. This Sac becomes part of the character and can put the character through similar experiences one may have during pregnancy such as swollen ankles, morning sickness, etc. When the Child is ready to come out, the Sac will change in color and the Child will come out. The Sac will fall off the character afterward. High in protein!
🦊 The Star: The quickest way to summon a Child is identical to how characters arrive in the setting. Use the Power of Lore and get your own little star! The Star will spontaneously burst into existence and fall to the ground before appearing as the Child. This can happen in a matter of minutes.
