Announcements and Feedback

Hello Folkies! This is our monthly Story of Us post where we get together to make game announcements, ask for any feedback or suggestions, partake in character relationship memes and open up our invites for the upcoming application cycle!

Check out the bottom of this post for important dates to keep an eye on!

Announcements
We will be holding bi-monthly Texts From Last Night posts on our OOC community. Both players and non-players are welcome to tag into this. Players can use these posts for their spoons and tentative new players can use these posts for samples on their applications. If accepted into the game, you can also use your TFLN posts for spoons!

The upcoming event for July will have an element that will extend between July and August. This will involve characters feeling heavily pressured to gravitate to a unique location known as Camp Camelot located nearby the Lakes in Willow.

This location will not be accessible until the event begins. Characters will be able to go to and from the camp at will but most will feel enormously pressured by the general state of the game to actively attend the camp either as campers or counselors! Most of July and August's events will have to do with the camp, but fear not! There will still be prompts available in both July and August for those who might want to do things beyond the camp.

From July 1st to July 12th, characters throughout Folkmore will be gifted a fox beret with a matching orange Camp Camelot shirt, a pair of orange shorts, an optional clip-on orange fox tail, and some nifty knee-high white socks with orange bands at the top. You will be provided with a set of orange hiking boots that, instead of ridges on the feet, have paw prints. These outfits will appear in a neat pile somewhere in your character's home and will be custom fit to their exact measurements and body types!

Invitations

Our game is invite-only which means in order to make a reserve or apply, you must have an invite from a current player in-game! Players are not required to give invites. Invites are open between the 22nd of every month and close on the 5th of the following month when applications open. All invites expire after that application cycle ends.

Players are limited to one invite per round unless they have purchased an additional invite slot through Spoons. If using an additional invite slot, please make sure to link to your purchase in your invite form.

Invites allow new players to reserve/apply to the game. Invites do not guarantee that new players will get in. Some invites may not be accepted and we will message players on a case-by-case basis if necessary.

Players only require an invite for their first application. Once they are a player in the game, they can apply as more characters at a later date. If a player drops completely from the game, they will require a new invite to get back in.

Character Name: John Egbert
Character Age: 20
Characer Species: human
Character Details: Nothing exceptionally noteworthy -- he wears glasses and has a bit of an overbite but is otherwise pretty average.
Character Summary: Where do I even start. Homestuck is an isekai anime a webcomic starring four kids, then twelve aliens, then four more kids, trying to save existence as we know it, in the form of a really wild video game. They do manage to save the everything, so that's good. Everyone is traumatized and no one is happy, so that's bad. (Arguably, some of them are happy, but there's plenty of angst to go around.) John in particular has an integral role in all of this. Suffering from main character syndrome, he's actually the only one to get to the end of the story as his "original" self. Everyone else gets pushed and prodded through various branching timelines, and we just don't think too hard about the versions left behind in the dead timelines.

Character Role: Familiar
Character Role Deets: Thus far, this has manifested itself in very cute bunny ears and a little bunny tail, very adorable.
Character Living Quarters: An apartment in Satori Hills
Character Schools: Nowhere, as of yet, but he will probably start exploring this soon.
Day to Day Life: Thus far, he's just been trying to get his footing, and really doesn't stray too far from his apartment, unless forced. My goal for the next month or two is to get him out and exploring the setting more!

Current Mindset/Health: Physically, he's perfectly healthy. Emotionally, not so much. He had a very abnormal teenagehood which has led to a severe lack of knowledge on how to interact with other people and plenty of trauma that he is still repressing. He suffers from depression and a lack of identity -- losing out on that teenage experience of exploring yourself really set him back. He doesn't really let on about most of this, but those who get close to him can probably start to recognize the patterns.
Recent Developments: He's learning about sexuality and identity! That's a big thing for him. His view on these things heretofore has been very binary -- as a 13-year-old coming from the year 2009, he didn't really have a lot of exposure. But he's learning that there are things like bisexuality, pansexuality, nonbinary, ace spectrum, etc.
Goals For Your Character: I would love to keep exploring the theme of self-discovery and learning how to bond with new people.
Problems With Your Character: See all of the above! He's also struggling to accept this as his new life for now, even if he should be used to universe-hopping by now. That's actually the problem -- he's kind of tired and just would Rather Not™.

Wanted CR:
🐇 John can always use more friends, tbqh.
🐇 People to push him into uncomfortable situations or self-reflection. The kind who don't really take "no" for an answer.
🐇 Non-castmates willing to share their interdimensional trauma? It would be nice for him to learn there are others out there.
🐇 Musical buddies! John plays piano and would enjoy a jam session or two.
🐇 Smooches?! He's pretty unlikely to initiate this himself, but please. A smooch, a hug, anything. Please aggressively introduce him to physical affection.
Unwanted CR: Can't think of anything I actively don't want! As is usually the case with seeking 'pushy' CR, he might not react well, depending entirely on context, but as a player I'm interested in exploring that, too.
Open/Closed to New CR: I'd like to balance both, deepening existing CR, and making new pals too.

Anything music is Reko's jam. She plays the piano as well but she also does pretty much any instrument you hand to her, plus she sings and composes music as well.

Maybe summer camp can provide some sort of musical liaison...

Bro she might have. I might even be headcanoning right now that she wanted a giant piano as a kid too, okay.

I've already decided she's leading at least one campfire singalong, though she might break into some sick heavy metal.

Yuri isn't exactly pushy, but he's the type who hates to see people who aren't living for themselves, which is sounds like you might be getting at with John. Would love to see if the Vibe, especially since they're around the same age.

There's definitely potential I think! We just have to find a way to force them to stick around each other long enough to gel, or like, contrive some sort of antics to jumpstart things. Which I'm sure camp will provide us over the next two months, to be fair...
