Trial Consequences & Continuing Effects Over the last month, Folkmore experienced:
- The Selkie river drying up as Cruel Summer caught fire and a wall of fire grew near Exile. The selkies needed help and once helped transformed into phoenixes.
- As cool weather and environmental changes came over Cruel Summer and Exile, Star Children transformed into fiery and watery titans affecting the world around them.
- Those who entered Exile were eventually attacked, and they were also dogged by nightmares. Perhaps that was organic from the monster fights at the border between those of Exile and Cruel Summer.
These led to the following
lasting consequences:
- Landmarks in Cruel Summer have changed. The desert isn't the same one people knew before. Don't get lost.
- The climate at the border continues to be an overlap of features. The border isn't as clear cut between the two regions though it is stable. Exile's pushed a little more space on the far side of the Encantado River as before, but it's smaller.
These
effects continue:
- Star Children who became water titans still do not earn Lore (ICly) from interactions for now.
Thirteen's iteration Lavender starts to lead Folkmore. Star Children can tell by Lavender showing up in their dreams, specifically their nightmares. Lavender provides them with a tool or ability to turn the dream in their favor. That unsolvable nightmare just got a bit more solvable… if you accept the help.
Star Children may contact Lavender via their goats. Asleep or daydreaming, the desire to send Lavender a message will see a Star Child's goat show up in their dream, accept the message, and run off. The goat will return in dreams or reality with a handwritten message back.
Weather & New Environmental Effects - It's a little windy in Never Fade—not up top but underneath in the tunnels. It makes navigating the tunnels a bit more dangerous. Someone could fall out the bottom! (Unless one of those handy nets people can make has been set up).
- Cruel Summer has crisp days and cold nights. However, as the climate has otherwise settled down, it could seem somewhat pleasant. The monsters have all disappeared from the border, and the region is quiet on that front. As a general rule, Star Children experience few if any attacks (and those most likely by former water titans).
- Willow experiences temperatures near or below freezing all month. A snow storm comes through dumping on average a couple feet of snow on February 27th that makes it more difficult to get around, but within a couple days the roads have all been cleared at least.
- Exile has extremely predictable weather with highs during the week and lows on the weekends. The swamp of sorrows ices over, but the ice is thin, cracking and breaking beneath anyone that walks on it. Baba Yaga settles in one location near the Encantado and becomes easy for everyone to find who should want to. It's never been easier to be on time to magic lessons.
- The residents of Nereid take a holiday the whole month to Tides. The submarines on the 13th are extremely full and busy as they all take suitcases with them. Anyone who asks will get to hear about the latest art exhibits in Tides, new restaurants opening, and the like. Rumors have it The Deeps are even more inspiring than usual. For most of the month, that leaves the port town mostly a ghost town. The nymphs remain, and the fresh water nymphs are happy for any company they can get.
- Wintermute experiences an increase in thunderstorms, especially heavy in lightning. The lightning isn't always preceded by thunder, however, so it's best to keep other taller objects around or people could get hit. Thoth can be seen around from time to time. It seems she's in Folkmore for the time being.
