November 2025 Story of Us

Story of Us: November 2025
Table of Contents
Hello Folkies! This is our monthly Story of Us post where we get together to make game announcements, ask for any feedback or suggestions, and remind our players of upcoming dates! This update covers 13th November - 12th December.
Contents
Trial Consequences & Continuing Effects
Over the last month, Folkmore experienced & continues to experience:
  • Communal gardens in Willow where food grows at an accelerated rate. Noms for all.
  • Pumpkins (and other squashes) with carving kits that come alive, chase, and try to eat their maker.
Iteration Iteration
Thirteen's iteration Amrita continues to lead Folkmore. Star Children can tell by her stream with Jewelia, Thoth, & Agrona and via her appearance in dreams with Lavender and Kuma Lisa. She also holds office hours at Amrita Academy and happens to be extremely easy to find in general. Any Star Children in Willow who want to find Amrita will come across her nearby.

Star Children may contact Amrita via the network or in person. Just come to Willow.

Weather & New Environmental Effects
  • Crisp autumn mornings warm to a pleasant afternoon. Come evening, it gets chilly and windy. The wind readily bites through most layers of clothing as if chasing Star Children indoors.
  • It's autumn, and Willow is the most autumn to autumn. Spirits collect late harvests and sell hot cider. Leaves fall off trees and coat everything. Anyone spending much time outside in Willow beyond the communal gardens will find a red, orange, or yellow leaf sticking to them when they come indoors. Spirits also recommend not raking your yard. More leaves will come down the next day, and besides, they're good for the soil, bugs, and other life.
  • The swamp of sorrows ices over. The ice isn't solid enough to readily tromp across. Star Children who dare do so better be able to fly, float, or otherwise get away at a moment's notice. Land lubbers are better suited to going around the swamp the long way, if they must.
  • Wintermute starts getting snow flurries and reduced visibility, even when the sun is out. The sled dogs can be relied upon to help people get where they are going, but those new or inexperienced in the region are best off not going on their own.
  • Talaria, balanced at the boundaries of Willow, Cruel Summer, and Exile, experiences horrible weather more variable than anywhere else. Fierce storms and days of lulls. This weather is less extreme but continues along the borders of Willow and Cruel Summer with Exile. Inhabitants in Talaria may want to strengthen their homes to avoid them getting damaged or destroyed altogether. Some might even get damaged and destroyed if left unattended!
  • On December 3rd, a large strike of lightning visible from the surface all across Folkmore strikes Cruel Summer and creates a thirty foot diameter circle of glass in the desert. It's only a mile from the school, but thankfully no one was hit!
  • Tides gets rocked by more currents and waves this month. Given the size of the metropolitan city, it's gentle, but people may feel the fact they are in/under the water more this month.
Announcements
Rule Review
  • Since Folkmore has become smaller, some of the rules could use tweaking to better fit the size of the game. With that in mind, the mods will be reviewing policies over time and announcing changes before implementing them.
  • If you have feedback about what you'd like to see to better fit Folkmore now, you're welcome to reply to this (or any) SOU or contact us via the mod contact post.
Number of Versions
  • Currently, Folkmore allows for 4 versions of characters.
  • Folkmore will move to allowing 2 versions of characters, starting with the January 2026 application cycle.
  • Versions, up to four, will be allowed per the current rules in the next two application cycles and allowed to stay in Folkmore at that number. Once versions drop, however, only two versions will be allowed.
Event Q&A Interactivity
  • We have been happy to work with players on the current event to adapt the end of the event, future impacts, etc based on how characters respond (and players are interested in engaging with) the event.
  • Currently, questions have led to options of keeping doubles around or temporarily replacing Star Children with their doubles. Both of these situations will be included in and affect the culmination of the current arc should they be utilized.
  • So keep asking questions! On this event and in the future, we'd like to engage with you on related plots and change the course of the game/events in the game based on your interaction with it.
IC/OOC Announcement from Thirteen
  • Star Children may choose to return home if they would like—such as if they believe they've achieved their potential or don't care about squandering it.
  • To return home, Star Children need only ask an iteration of Thirteen to send them home, preferably the iteration currently in charge. Other iterations may be busy with other work.
  • This information comes publicly from Thirteen for the first time. Whether it was always possible and whether anyone's done so is a matter for gossip.
Reminders
  • Have questions about anything going on? Need an update on a question that slipped between the cracks? Ask them here.
