June 2025 Story of Us

Story of Us: June 2025
Table of Contents
Hello Folkies! This is our monthly Story of Us post where we get together to make game announcements, ask for any feedback or suggestions, and remind our players of upcoming dates! This update covers 13th June - 12th July.

Trial Consequences & Continuing Effects
Over the last month, Folkmore experienced:

  • Continued dragon cavern shenanigans (and plush dragons).
  • Questions about trial preferences and mini trials accordingly.
  • A condition which caused some health issues… or simply the inability to spend Lore.
  • Submarine trips into the bloodstream to cage the three corpses, fixing Lore errors.
  • Variable friction games in a jungle dome in Wintermute to help power the submarines.

Iteration
Thirteen's iteration Lavender starts to lead Folkmore. Star Children can tell by purple tones and objects in their dreams. Sometimes, Lavender themselves may be spotted. Also, everyone's goats from Never Fade are going on more field trips to visit their respective Star Children. No matter what protective measures are on a home, the goats get in. (If you haven't visited to discover your goat, it will find you).

Star Children may contact Lavender via talking to them in their dreams or by thinking messages at their spoons, mirrors, or other reflective surfaces. Their message will appear and a response from Lavender (it may be a default 'think about it' message in a cloud followed by dreams on the topic).

Weather & New Environmental Effects
  • Last month's idea-generating lightning, bursting forth from clear skies, has given Folkmore's skies the ideas of stormy weather: there's still plenty of lightning, but now the clear weather has an ambient haze of humidity, and a full storm comes barreling through at least once every three days. Huge thunderclouds looming overhead, blocking out the sun for hours, with lightning and thunder announcing the inevitable torrential downpours — the works! Enough wind that even the best umbrellas will struggle to do their jobs, too. Might just want to get indoors, quickly.
  • On June 16th, 17th, and 18th, Talaria will undergo enough consecutive stormy weather that some of the tiny houses could have once again been washed away ... so it's probably a surprise that several of them have grown Baba Yaga-style chicken legs, instead, stilting them up above the floodwaters. No ladders included, and it won't be until the 25th at the earliest that they settle back down to ground level, even though the last trace of high water will have receded by the 21st. Good luck reaching those doorknobs!
  • Speaking of the 21st: the Summer Solstice this year is one of the ones with the Midnight Sun ... on both sides of the day. Sun comes up on the 20th; sun finally goes down on the 22nd. Don't forget to wear sunscreen!.

Announcements
Fourth Wall Event Forthcoming
  • July's event will be a fourth wall event where players not in Folkmore are welcome to come and join us! Or you may consider playing CR for a friend short term for the event.
  • Those joining the event will be able to apply without their characters leaving and returning to Folkmore, if desired.
  • The plotting post and event post will be made public accordingly.
Permanent Effect on the Game
  • As part of the next event, current players will get to decide between two options that will have different lasting impacts on the game—both on the setting and potentially to our application!
  • Time will be given to consider the options and to vote.
  • The results will be announced in two SOUs from now, aka the end of the next event.
