We do not require traditional "activity" check-ins, but we do require an interest check-in to ensure that our players are present and still engaged with the characters they play.

You will be required to check-in during the 1-8th of the month. If you cannot access a computer during this time, please let a mod or friend know so they can check-in for you.

You must check in your individual characters. If you fail to check in with any characters, they will be swept from the game.

If you missed check-in due to extenuating circumstances, please contact the mods ASAP and let them know the situation.

We ask our players to be active in the game even without formal activity check requirements. If we notice any concerning patterns with the same players missing check-ins and being swept from the game or being irresponsible with check-ins or squatting we will contact the player directly. This may include restrictions from reapplication into the game or actual activity requirements.

Please respect your fellow players and mods! We want to keep this game activity-requirement-free and active.

Anatomy Of Check-In

Every player will have an overall check-in comment with their name as the subject line. Every character a player writes will have a comment with their name and fandom as the subject line. Each month, players need to post a comment under each character's comment with the month and year in the subject line.

The comment structure will look like:
🦊 Player Name
🦊 Character Name | Fandom
🦊 Month Year
🦊 Month Year
🦊 Character Name | Fandom
🦊 Month Year
🦊 Month Year
Check-in Content

Check-in comments are IC only, and are required to include a minimum of one specific thing your character did this month. You're welcome to include more.

Formatting is your choice: sentences, bullet points, something else. We're not picky!

We do not want links to threads, OOC explanations, or apologies. Folkmore is a chill game, and it's completely fine to have not played much.

We welcome and encourage handwaving. Give us something your character did in the background or plans you have to back thread. Note handwaved interactions you discussed with other players. Many players use their check-in posts as records of important beats their characters experienced.

The bottom line is to show you have some OOC idea what is going on IC, even when you're not actively able to RP, to demonstrate your continued engagement in the game with the character.

Character Name: Mayerling
Player Name: Sil
Summarized Activity:
🩰 Donnie kidnapped Mayerling at the start of the month and brought him to his lab as part of his experimentation on souls and the multiverse. Mayerling left his cell via the bordering walls a few times and tried to help others escape but refused to leave on his own. Therefore, he was brought back to his cell repeatedly and the walls repaired. He underwent the experiment itself, an experience he wouldn't be keen to repeat, and stayed there until people stormed the lab.
🩰 Sharon stormed the laboratory and found him in his cell, navigation made all the easier by their soulmate bond that connects them via a red string. They were separated by an energy barrier but talked. Then she was attacked, and Mayerling had to force his way out of the cell to join her. They escaped the laboratory but fell into one of the memory traps formed by the exploding gate. They witnessed some of the last days Mayerling had with Charlotte, the infamous chase across the Frontier, and emotions welled within him like a tidal wave.
🩰 The rest of the month required much rest and recuperation and, yes, brooding. Mayerling has never found love again so quickly after losing one (only a handful of years, a bit shy of a decade much less a human lifetime). He doesn't feel guilty for it. He knows Charlotte would support him, yet he cannot help but wonder about it and the impact this social life has had on his grieving process, as well as the rest of his life. He's certainly far busier when it comes to mental space. Oh the City of the Night kept him busy on repairs, yet his only mental concerns were his grief. In Folkmore, he has so much more to ponder and think over. It still hurts, sometimes with shocking intensity, but he suspects the healing process may have accelerated, much as life among mortals is.
