We do not require traditional "activity" check-ins, but we do require an interest check-in to ensure that our players are present and still engaged with the characters they play.

You will be required to check-in during the 1-8th of the month. If you cannot access a computer during this time, please let a mod or friend know so they can check-in for you.

You must check in your individual characters. If you fail to check in with any characters, they will be swept from the game.

If you missed check-in due to extenuating circumstances, please contact the mods ASAP and let them know the situation.

We ask our players to be active in the game even without formal activity check requirements. If we notice any concerning patterns with the same players missing check-ins and being swept from the game or being irresponsible with check-ins or squatting we will contact the player directly. This may include restrictions from reapplication into the game or actual activity requirements.

Please respect your fellow players and mods! We want to keep this game activity-requirement-free and active.

Anatomy Of Check-In

Every player will have an overall check-in comment with their name as the subject line. Every character a player writes will have a comment with their name and fandom as the subject line. Each month, players need to post a comment under each character's comment with the month and year in the subject line.

Check-in Content

Check-in comments are IC only, and are required to include a minimum of one specific thing your character did this month. You're welcome to include more.

Formatting is your choice: sentences, bullet points, something else. We're not picky!

We do not want links to threads, OOC explanations, or apologies. Folkmore is a chill game, and it's completely fine to have not played much.

We welcome and encourage handwaving. Give us something your character did in the background or plans you have to back thread. Note handwaved interactions you discussed with other players. Many players use their check-in posts as records of important beats their characters experienced.

The bottom line is to show you have some OOC idea what is going on IC, even when you're not actively able to RP, to demonstrate your continued engagement in the game with the character.

🔥 Baphomet caught a train. He had an overall bad time on the train. The highlight (/sarcasm) was facing an emotional trial with Rhys where they had to see people they've lost. Baphomet was supposed to walk away from Tech and leave him behind. Even recognizing a trial as a trial, that sucks ass. Fuck you very much, Jewelia. A teleportation whistle doesn't make up for it.
🔥 Baphomet had fun on a survey post about dimensions. At least, until the topic of Woden came up. Woden is an asshole. People really don't appreciate that enough.

🔥 As was only natural, the brooding goth found the sparsely populated lonely bar across Folkmore time and again. He's old hat enough to recognize there was a trick to leaving but also was sensitive how bluntly to present that to newcomers he met in the bar. It's almost a shame they weren't in the arrival trial of last February given he met an incredibly attractive woman who made a testing the waters pass at him. Hooking up would have solved things then but not this time. Baphomet had the strength of character to turn down the immediate offer and focus instead on what the place was asking of them. Please step on him. He received an infuriating piece of Woden tech when he left the bar. It's a small device that beeps. That's all he's figured out about it so far. (It beeps near hidden entrances/exits).
🔥 True to himself, he continued to troll some people over text. It's simply too much fun. He'll never outgrow it, no matter how mature he gets. Fun isn't a lack of maturity, guys. It's how you stay youthful, even as you get older.
🔥 Baphomet's also been spending more and more time with Rhys. They don't live together, but that doesn't mean they can't spend many nights together. Though he prefers his place since it doesn't come with goat visits during sleeping hours.

🔥 Baphomet spoke with Arthur about playing with his griffon and also, y'know, being a god in Folkmore. What that's like. Admittedly, his kind of godhood differs from some other worlds, but it's still an interesting topic to get into with people who aren't gods.
🔥 Baphomet took Donatello up on his offer of data/info related to interdimensional travel (and that failed experiment Baphomet was a part of). Unfortunately, there was no actual soul scan data in there, which irritated Baphomet because hello, you scanned his soul. What did all the data blow up? You didn't back it up in the time between scan and base destruction? You hoarding it? Huh? Enjoy being the yellow turtle, not the purple turtle, Donnie. AKA Baphomet used his fashion summoning ability (and stalking) to change Donnie's purple clothes to yellow over and over again until he accepted being yellow. At least for a time. He'll come back to it whenever he wants. The pettiness helps release some of the bad feels.
🔥 Baphomet has plenty of regrets, but he doesn't want to die, not over them. Some are more processed than others, but he generally avoided getting drawn into the water thanks to the general better work he's already done. Earlier in his life, earlier in Folkmore, he'd be down immediately. Not so much anymore. Be proud, friends. That isn't to say it's easy, nor is he the quickest to open up just because he's supposed to, but challenge though it was, it wasn't a killer.

🔥 The expectations game made Baphomet relive parts of his parents' death and the aftermath, which also meant facing Marian again. He managed to be sad for her, more than angry, but it was all a lot to face. The first half of April was rough, despite the lack of of a lake-bottom nap. He probably could have used a truth bomb being used on his behalf, but guess he still has those.
🔥 Not yet picked for the mountaintop would you rather, Baphomet's had a lot of conversations about would you rather via his sunglasses and other connections. It started with a small question of sharing best or worst memories, and his worst memories were on his mind. Yet he would still rather share them, relive them, than share his happiest memories. Those are his, his and the people involved in them's. So he spoke with Harrow, Rhys, Power, Katie, and Yelena. There's worse ways to get to know new people and old alike.

🔥 Baphomet did a better job staying in touch with people, socializing, and not staying in his own self-contained bubble this month. That also netted him more Lore, which you'd think would give him access to more things, not less. Nope, the only symptom Baphomet got of the new "sickness" coming around was the inability to spend his Lore. He had to become a mooch, far more than even in his uni days (rich boy syndrome, there). At least it kept him interacting with people?
🔥 Despite being "sick," Baphomet chose to fight some of the corpses in the submarines. Honestly, he was a bit of a nerd about going into the body and navigating a circulatory system. He may have tried to lead a submarine into someone's heart. Come on, how cool is it to see the inside of a heart? Okay, fine, fine, focus focus focus.
