January 2024 Story of Us

Story of Us: January 2024
Announcements and Feedback
Hello Folkies! This is our monthly Story of Us post where we get together to make game announcements, ask for any feedback or suggestions, and remind our players of upcoming dates!

Upcoming weather and information for 13 January - 12 February

🦊 With the addition of Never Fade to the biosphere, some of the weather has gotten Different. In Never Fade itself, the weather patterns will be reported as "purple," and lo and behold the sun will appear to be purple instead of yellow, casting a purple shade on everything else. Simultaneously in Cruel Summer, the weather report has frequent spots of burnt marshmallow--thankfully this turns out to be a scent and not a texture Star Children have to walk through! And in Epiphany, on Wednesdays and weekends, there will always be a very faint taste of strawberry. If you don't like strawberry, you probably want to go hang out somewhere else. If you are allergic, you're fine: it's not real, it's just part of the winter weather.

🦊 While the lack of sunlight in Wintermute continues unabated until the end of March as normal, it also does not snow for the first two weeks of February. It will just be dark and cold and have pretty night skies. There is no precipitation anywhere else, either, for that matter: clear or partly cloudy skies for the entirety of Folkmore. You may want a hat. Especially if you're in Never Fade and don't like purple.

🦊 Our iteration for the next couple months is the brand new Lavender, who will be speaking directly to the Star Children via the network to say hello at the beginning of their trial. If one might be inclined to blame Lavender for some of the more unusually sensory weather, they might be right (maybe). Lavender will be driving Folkmore until March, at which point spirits think the old order of iterations is likely to return. If you really want to make a prediction, ask Lavender, they will probably be happy to tell you.

Mod Notes & Reminders

🦊 The Spoons page was updated to clarify which purchases are made IC or OOC. The mod team noticed some misconceptions and unclear purchases sections; hopefully these have been mitigated. Please give it a quick review and let us know if you have any other questions!

🦊 So players have more information about characters in game, we will now be require publicly available profiles that contain the information in the Character Information and Folkmore Roles and Attributes sections of the application. Players may post it from their applications or format the information in another way.

🦊 To better distinguish between game canon (unless otherwise specified) and OOC matters, we have created a new community, [community profile] folkmeme. You don't need to join it but are welcome to with any journals in game. Its use will be for game memes, such as the TDM & TFLN, that can or do count as game canon by default but are open to anyone, whether in the game or not.
🦊 Its inaugural post is the overflow for the wildly successful December/January TDM, which we're so glad is being thoroughly enjoyed!
🦊 Feel free to copy over your starter and/or continue threads in the overflow post!

🦊 New year, new Check-in page. AC mod has set up new TL comments for all current players with links to their 2023 check-in TL comments. It'll be easier to run check-in and for players to find their old comments.

🦊 Check our full calendar for more!
