We do not require traditional "activity" check-ins, but we do require an interest check-in to ensure that our players are present and still interested in the characters they play.

You will be required to check-in during the 1-8th of the month. If you cannot access a computer during this time, please let a mod or friend know so they can check-in for you.

You must check in your individual characters. If you fail to check in with any characters, they will be swept from the game.

If you missed check-in due to extenuating circumstances, please contact the mods ASAP and let them know the situation.

We ask our players to be active in the game even without formal activity check requirements. If we notice any concerning patterns with the same players missing check-ins and being swept from the game or being irresponsible with check-ins or squatting we will contact the player directly. This may include restrictions from reapplication into the game or actual activity requirements.

Please respect your fellow players and mods! We want to keep this game activity-requirement-free and active.

Anatomy Of Check-In

Every player will have an overall check-in comment with their name as the subject line. Every character a player writes will have a comment with their name and fandom as the subject line. Each month, players need to post a comment under each character's comment with the month and year in the subject line.

Check-in Content

Check-in comments are IC only, and are required to include a minimum of one thing your character did this month. You're welcome to include more.

Formatting is your choice: sentences, bullet points, something else. We're not picky!

We do not want links to threads, OOC explanations, or apologies. Folkmore is a chill game, and it's completely fine to have not played much.

We welcome and encourage handwaving. Give us something your character did in the background or plans you have to back thread. Note handwaved interactions you discussed with other players. Many players use their check-in posts as records of important beats their characters experienced.

The bottom line is to show you have some OOC idea what is going on IC, even when you're not actively able to RP, to demonstrate your continued interest in the game with the character.

⚔️ The new year started out awesome. Gideon got to tease Gojo about learning how to cook for Geto (and having to deal with a young teenage girl about it).
⚔️ Gideon also visited the suddenly appearing Never Fade. However, she had to explore the island without her compatriots Harrow and Palamedes because her goat found her right away and would not wait. Not at all. She saw Hythlodaeus in the tunnels None of the Above and met Emporio outside one of the Cloud Colonies.
⚔️ Lavender gave everyone a choice whether or not to participate in the trial! Great! That's about all it takes to get Gideon to say yes, even without the reward.
⚔️ Lavender's trial was HORRIBLE. Gideon came out to have a good time and felt so attacked. She was stuck in an Ortus Nigenad The Noniad themed world where she fought versions of herself as a champion for herself. Hawke helped heal her because it was totally rigged against her (good chat, bro), but when she got out? No reward. She told Lavender where they could stick it and got kicked back into the trial for her trouble.
⚔️ Trial round two went better with a bit of a twist to it. She was fighting other Star Children as champions, not herself! Also, the wall of denial around thinking about her future since Halloweeen got broken through. She's more accepting, now, of her future self being a walking corpse. Oh and she got that `get out of trial free` enamel pin.

⚔️ Gideon spent time this month processing both her future and her thoughts toward Thirteen, which had idled for a while, despite things like the fae and dying happening. She wound up discussing some of it with April when she posted while kidnapped by sharks.
⚔️ Darth Maul has joined the Eleanor Shellstrop School for Self-Betterment (and agreed to be a sparring partner :D)
⚔️ Gideon went to Gojo's arcade opening party, tried some weird food with Gojo while bonding over awesome outfits, and won Harrow an appropriately themed plushie from the crane machine. Do not talk about how many tries that took.
⚔️ Gideon reconnected with SmolSteve after he disappeared all month. She was a little pissed (read: worried) about the lack of communication, but they're good.
⚔️ Sometimes friends are dumb and need to be dunked in the ocean. Sometimes that's Gojo, which means you have to trick him into not raising infinity.

⚔️ Gideon enjoyed *not* being the scientific representative for the Nine Houses, as that is much better taken care of by... literally everyone else from her universe. She enjoyed good food, checked out the exhibits at the world fair, and did a terrible job at trying to build a robot.
⚔️ Gideon reunited with Karma, the cat, who previously gave her a bunch of porn mags. So clearly she was happy to see Karma, pet him, and gave him treats. In return, she has a new fire power.
⚔️ Gideon discussed summoning, as she knows it, versus other kinds with Red Wine and, unfortunately for Red Wine, did not lead him to meet someone else like him.

⚔️ Gideon participated in the science fair and enjoyed delivering people vibes. A lot of them she followed up on and talked about things in person, ranging from bonding over ethical uses of corpses to dying to saving people and more. Sometimes it's lighthearted. A lot was lighthearted.
⚔️ Gideon helped Maul discuss what works and doesn't work for him controlling his emotions, now that he's in Folkmore and not Trench. They worked out while having a video connection over the relic. She's glad to help someone continue to make progress on themselves.

⚔️ Thoth's experiments? Yes, those are still going on. Gideon will not talk about what happened in one with absolutely anyone, not even the new person (Quattro) she met there. See, they spent a long time exploring an invisible maze. It turns out, if either of them took off their sunglasses sooner, they'd be able to see the maze. You can see or you can touch, not both, and they explored it on hard mode. Ssh.
⚔️ As a veteran of Folkmore, Gideon knew the food made by Thirteen would have some kind of effect. Various effects. At least there's more to the experience than just taking shots. Yummy yummy food. Did she have to get an action figure of herself in her zombie form though? Did she? Bonus points, it's made of bone which means Harrow can move it around with magic. It's great. Lets not talk about the rapier, the real rapier, that belongs to her future self.
⚔️ We're off to find the ribbon, the great ribbon of Oz the Nine Houses.

⚔️ Sometimes you need a chill month. Sometimes that chill month doesn't happen because everything is on fire. Gideon may have spent two years (anniversary month woo) in Folkmore, but she grew up where fire meant death, even a small one. For Folkmore to be on fire more broadly is highly disturbing. Not being set on fire herself is nice, but it's annoying to have to save her favorite food stall by talking about the fact her first exposure to some kinds of food existing were in the background of other news and mags coming from out of the Ninth House.
⚔️ Gideon discussed these consequences/'consequences' with Sharon and drew up the parallel to the time Folkmore flooded. While that was an August time, it was still summer. Kinda similar?

⚔️ Reattaching limbs came up again. It totally wasn't her fault. It got posted to the network independently and everything. So yes, she offered again, but she also wound up talking about necromancy and the use of human remains with Quattro, such as whether it's weird or moral.
⚔️ Gideon connected with someone who already knew her that she didn't know. Usually in Folkmore it's the other way around, but Illarion knows Gideon from somewhere else (Trench). They talked about various things such as her zombie future, how she approaches Folkmore, and the like but also... her dad. And his problems. He has so many.
⚔️ Gideon learned Zechs would be interested in her if she were interested in dudes. She legit had 0% thought about it (between lesbian and not single). It surprised her, but it probably shouldn't have.

⚔️ The first half of the month was relaxed and great for Gideon with conversations that started inane but sometimes got a bit deeper in the feels. (Sometimes they stayed silly, which is a good balance for mental health). These various conversations brought the deep feeling that Gideon does not want to go home closer to the surface. She hasn't acknowledged it yet, but it's a continuing theme with facing her future back home... why does she have to? Does she have to? Perhaps it's another way to try to avoid the future, but perhaps it's also rethinking what the future has to look like.
⚔️ Then y'know, getting transported to Amrita Academy as Folkmore melts around them in chaos. Gideon was assigned to building, which she took to with gusto. She's helped Senku and Gen a lot, so while she isn't an architect, this isn't entirely new to her.
⚔️ Gideon made a gingerbread house for the first time. Larger than most people's gingerbread houses.

⚔️ Much of the month was spent continuing with the isolation on Amrita, but it changed a bit. The weather led to a conversation with Hawks about the norms in Folkmore and the ways to be wary of weather (and ofc wing care, important).
⚔️ Pandora's Fox went up again, and although Gideon isn't particularly looking for a Familiar bond, she posted about it anyway. She wound up speaking with a few people and had a fun time. No Familiar bond, but y'know, can't have everything. She and Sharon discussed the idea of Myth-Legend bonds and decided they should really be a thing.
⚔️ Rejoice! Folkmore returns as a hot mess. Gideon helped clean up wherever it was needed. She has a motorcycle and can travel. She can also teleport to people she cares about. So she got around a bit easier than other people. So she did end up helping the turtle as well (works best with someone she cares about there, and then she kinda teleports between people she cares about to bring loads of things to the turtle... look at her solving problems). Congrats, 5 spoons and a rock.
⚔️ Oh no, hot girl on her floor. Gideon.exe stopped working.

⚔️ The stripes in Cruel Summer have been after Gideon's ass. Her being booted around. Her being summoned. She feels like Agrona's stuck her in a sandglobe and shaken it around for good measure. Which is fine. It's not like that kinda thing is deeply going into her future or any nonsense. No reason to think it has to do with that, so she's all good.
⚔️ Gideon hasn't forgotten her future, which is progress for the year, but she hasn't figured out what to do about it either. It's not an imminent problem, ya know?
⚔️ Oh, oh, Gideon fought these monsters in the fighting pits that looked like, get this, SWORDS! It was the coolest experience of her life month. Please please let her do it again. It was so much fun.

⚔️ Gideon returned to the fighting pits (on purpose this time thank you) to fight more things that looked like swords. Some more of the same, some different. They were all incredibly fantastic, and her necromancer caught her in a joyful glaze after one of the fights.
⚔️ Holidays means food mooching. Gideon went to various parties, socialized, and ate as much food as she was able. She also cooked food for her friends.
⚔️ Murder mystery trains are fun when they're fake mysteries. She'll take bad acting over bad deaths any day.
