Over the last month or two, Folkmore experienced:
- Stripes across Cruel Summer developed that made people teleport when they crossed them.
- New Star Children arriving into modes of transport & locked room crime mysteries (acted) to solve.
- Jewelia assigned gift exchange giving people clues to their partner on their relics. Gifts improve once given.
- The stripes remain in Cruel Summer. They don’t always teleport people now, but they do sometimes. Might there be a trick to making it happen?
- Those who have earned their stripes from Cruel Summer have an easier time controlling its teleportation.
- New Star Children arrive inside modes of transport.
- Transportation delays due to transport not stopping before mysteries are solved.
- Gift exchanges continue to be assigned.
Thirteen's iteration Jewelia continues to lead Folkmore. Star Children can tell by Jewelia showing up on their relics. Further, they may reach Jewelia during January’s trial in the locomotive car.
Star Children may contact Jewelia via finding her piloting their submarine, riding the train, or sitting atop catbus. Her office hours are on the move, literally! When someone enters her office for them, they are transported to wherever she is in Folkmore. Relic messages may lead to people being assigned Jewelia for the gift exchange. Better come find her.

- The weather everywhere is lovely at least into the middle of the four-week period; by the 26th of January it's started to become a bit less wet in any area that wasn't Cruel Summer. It's not to say that there were drought conditions, but it was certainly less humid than anticipated.
- With the exception of Wintermute, which technically will be experiencing a ten-day drought with no precipitation from January 27th to February 5th. Wintermute just has enough snow and ice around that it won't feel as dry or even unusual; with snow everywhere already, does anyone notice when it isn't coming from the sky?
- This is because, if you hadn't yet guessed, Cruel Summer is going to be experiencing monsoon season. For anyone who didn't know it had a monsoon season, any spirit you ask will direct you to a weather dragon (found in bodies of water). If you can find one, its response will be just that you haven't been around long enough. Even you, Star Children who have been here since the very very beginning, hadn't been around long enough yet. Everyone is in it together: turns out Cruel Summer has a monsoon season! It lasts for a little over two weeks and clears up around the 7th of February.
- Everywhere and everywhen besides Cruel Summer's monsoon time, from the beginning of the trial to its end, there is a slight wind. That wind carries with it the distant sound of a train whistle—it sounds like the reward whistle, but not anyone's in particular. The wind gets tricksy at times, but especially on January 17th where it will leave an aftertaste of ice cream flavor on the lips and tongue-tips of Star Children.
Dropped Belongings Update
- As before, unique buildings may be left to others.
- As of now, animals/pets that have bonded with other characters may be adopted by them (with dropped player permission).
- As before, gifts already given (including spoon purchases) stay with their giftees.
- As before, event rewards cannot be passed on, except for pets.
- As before, all other (non-specified above) belongings cannot be passed on.
- The 2025 Check-In Page has been created!
- Please reply to your player comment with Character | Fandom header comments now!
- If you share a name with another player, you can click the link to the 2024 check-in TL to confirm which one you are.
- Please note, we are going to be stricter about ac summaries. Some summaries that have been accepted in the past will no longer be accepted. Please make sure to include at least one specific thing your character did that month.
- For 2025 we’re going to be posting a meme to
folkmeme once a month. It will not be the same day every month, but there will be one reliably.
- Every 3 months, it will be TFLN. Every 3 months, it will be Pandora’s Fox. Every 3 months, it will be a unique mystery meme.
- In order to maximize participation, we're giving you a nice lead-up balanced out with completion time: in one week, January 20th, our player survey will be going up. We will be asking about things such as the intensity of and consequences from upcoming events, how you've viewed certain past things, what you'd like to see in the future.
- The poll will remain open for another ten days, and closes on January 30th at 11:59pm Eastern. (It's programmed to do this and does not rely on anyone manually turning it off.)
- The mods will get another ten days to review and analyze results, and will be posting generalized results and specific anonymized commentary (with permission) on February 10th. We will be getting so many percentages about so many things out of this one set of questions.
- Both the poll post and the results posts will have categorical sections for discussion in the comments.
