Burrows (Lapine)
Burrows, otherwise known as Smials, are cozy underground homes built into the hillsides between Epiphany and Willow. These homes are known for their excellent insulation and coziness. The homes are modestly sized, ideal for smaller folk and those who value privacy above all else. The majority of burrows are located in the Lapine neighborhood, but others can be found scattered throughout Folkmore. The average burrow can comfortably house up to 4 people, but larger burrows have been known to hold 10.

Lapine is an incredibly quiet and safe place to live. Burrows embellish the natural beauty of the world, favoring heavy wooden accents with floral and tree etchings. Most burrows come with surrounding gardens - perfect for growing your own food! The residents of Lapine do enjoy their parties and will invite just about everyone they know.

Food is one of the most important cultural aspects of Lapine which makes it one of the best places to stock up on supplies! Swing on over to Lapine and you will be able to check everything off your grocery list just by visiting their daily food market. Lapine takes advantage of being near the Selkie river to keep their plants watered and provide clean drinking water to the immediate neighborhood.
Treehouses (Leshy)
The woods out by the Lakes grows denser the deeper you go, but fear not, travelers, for you are not wandering alone. Massive trees support a complex network of treehouses varying in size, shape, and quality; as indicated by the numbering, the treehouses are grouped in circles of five. One might find a shoddy treehouse that has a single room, possibly made by children. Others may find elegant treehouses wrapped securely around one tree, capable of supporting a family of 5. Most treehouses are built from the wood around them, structured to fit the trees.

Leshy is considered the neighborhood of treehouses, but treehouses can be found scattered throughout Folkmore where trees can be found. Treehouses have the advantage of being tricky to see and off the ground. On the downside, it can feel quite dangerous when wind storms cut through Folkmore. You want to make sure your treehouse is extremely secure. Additionally, if there is ever a forest fire...Well, you get the idea.

Those who live in Leshy greatly enjoy music. Many who wander the woods have often found salvation by following the melodies among the trees. Careful though...Sometimes it isn't Leshy that's pulling you in with a song.
Trailers (Puca Park)
Sometimes a trailer park gets the job done when nothing else will. At the edge of Cruel Summer, a trailer park known as Puca Park sits in neat rows. These homes might be modest and small, but they are by the only water source in Cruel Summer and are known for having a solid community. You can depend on your neighbor to help you out of a bad patch. Unsurprisingly, Puca Park is greatly influenced by the Agrona Academy and has been known to enjoy wrestling matches and other physical feats to pass the time. There are a few regular houses scattered about Puca Park, but no one thinks twice about it.

Sleeping in Puca Park can be a terrifying experience! Since they are on the cusp between Cruel Summer and Exile, it's no surprise that the night is filled with horrific sounds. Are those coyotes or is it an actual pack of women screaming in the canyons? It's best if you don't know. Strange lights have been known to pass over Puca Park, ranging from bobbing balls of light to great flashes of light that floods the entire park. It would be cool if it wasn't so damn creepy.

Don't expect an easy way of getting groceries without having to travel elsewhere for fresh produce.
Cottages (Gram)
Nestled in the deep woods beyond the Lakes are dozens of cottages in the small village of Gram. Gram offers a secluded home for many tender souls. Much like Lupine, food is easy to find and clean drinking water is plenty. Many cottages are dotted around the Lakes and benefit from the fresh fish and water on a daily basis - even during the winter! While cottages can be found throughout Folkmore, those in cottages prefer to stick to the northeastern portion of Willow.

Many folks who live in Gram work at the School of Thoth. The one major downside of Gram is that it is extremely far from everything and isn't by any train station. Sometimes privacy comes at a cost. Cottages are built with sturdy materials and are relatively safe to live in. They are functional homes with few problems except for the occasional unwanted guest.

There are rumors of strange sounds echoing among the woods around the Lakes, but many write it off as the bellowing of elks and songs of loons. Many residents of Gram also own boats and take them out onto the Lakes regularly. If you don't have a boat, you can likely rent one from someone who lives in the area.
Tiny Homes (Talaria)
Talaria is the ideal neighborhood for those who strive for minimalist living. Tiny homes populate Talaria in a well organized complex connected by wooden plank walkways. Each home can comfortably fit 1-2 people and are not intended to fit anymore than that. The residents of Talaria tend to believe in enviromentalism and do what they can to respect the land and world around them.

Unfortunately, these homes are not the safest to be in during dangerous times. They are structurally sound but it doesn't take too much for them to be destroyed. It is a fun place to visit as many of the residents enjoy theater and movies, often putting on makeshift productions. You may find unique sculptures outside of these homes most of which were created by the homeowners in the area.

Talaria is tucked between Willow, Cruel Summer, and Exile and is considered one of the most accessible neighborhoods. Many residents have canoes for the Lakes just behind them and excel at utilizing materials on an as-needed basis. You will be able to find many recycled goods in Talaria. There is also an impressive production of alcohol in Talaria which is then delivered to the rest of Folkmore.
Apartments (Satori Hills)
Satori Hills are one of the most contemporary housing available in Folkmore. These apartments are stacked in Epiphany. They have all the modern amenities you could want such as air conditioning, heating, and various utilities. In other homes, you typically need to add those things in yourself, but not with Satori Hills! These apartments come in studios, 1 bedroom, 2 bedroom, and 3 bedroom layouts. One of the greatest advantages of Satori Hills is it is right next to the heart of Epiphany. It's accessible to downtown shopping which is convenient for most.

Food trucks regularly park around Epiphany and will line around Satori Hills so there is always something yummy to eat. Satori Hills is a mix of regular apartment living and dorm living, a casual atmosphere among your neighbors. There seems to be a comfortable atmosphere of casual formalities and basic consideration towards one another.

Pets are allowed in these apartments. Most apartments come with a patio. The inside of the apartments tend to err on the side of black/gray/white minimalist design but residents are allowed to customize their living spaces to fit their tastes.
Apartments (Lunar Flats)
Lunar Flats provide one of the most modern types of housing in Folkmore. If you wish to live in a bustling energetic city, this would be the best place to live. These Flats are located in the middle levels of Tides, and are formed by several big apartment buildings covered in plants from the bottom to top.

Each apartment building has 8 levels in total, and each level contains four distinct units. These units have all amenities and more. The plants living in the building and even in the apartments are surprisingly (and magically) resilient; removing them will also prove to be a useless task as they will quickly grow back. There is a shared swimming pool between all buildings of the Flats as well.

Because the Flats are in the middle levels, they are far away from the Academy and the Port, which can be a bit inconvenient. Steam-powered vehicles can be easily rented all through the city, and the Passages tunnels allow quick communication between all levels, however.
Apartments (Reef Residences)
One of the wonders of Tides City are the amazing underwater flats, Reef Residences. Protruding horizontally from the glass that surrounds the city, these houses allow residents to live as if they are part of the ocean. The apartments have everything one would need, making this one of the best places to live in the city.

These Residences form a large neighborhood, and each can be easily customized and even modified by the people who acquire them. Just like the water, they can be shaped and reshaped. They can have between 1 and 6 bedrooms, but it's entirely possible to transform other rooms or to transform bedrooms, allowing the residents full control of the layout.

These Residences are spread through the lower levels of the metropolis which means they are close to Jewelia Academy and the Port, although it's still not a walking distance.
House Boats (Nereid)
Found right where the freshwater meets the ocean, Nereid floats around Nymph Port almost as if creating the idea of a floating village. These houses, just like the rest of Cruel Summer, are simple and small, but the community living in them is very strong and dependable. Because they live closer to the Ocean and to Tides, fresh produce is much easier to find, but will still require a trip to the city since there are no shops near Nereid.

Nymphs are the most common Spirit Folk in these parts since they run the Nymph Port and the submarines used for transportation to the underwater city Tides. There is much rivalry between fresh-water and salt-water Nymphs, which often results in disturbances in the water, but at the end of the day, they also rely on each other as sisters would. They are rough around the edges, too blunt, but always ready to lend an ear, a hand or a fin whenever needed.

During the night, the horrific sounds from Cruel Summer can still be heard, and in contrast, the ocean that surrounds Nereid is always calm and peaceful. However, sometimes there is a flash of light out there in the distance like a lost boat approaching... but it never arrives.
Windmills (Cloud Colonies)
At first glance, Cloud Colonies do not look impressive: small white windowless windmills with a single door. Each windmill is scattered throughout Never Fade, near the village, or in the middle of a field, or close to the institute, or on some random slope. They can also be clustered together.

These buildings hold a surprise: when Star Children walk through the door, they find themselves in a large building with several floors that go into the ground. Despite having no natural light, the whole structure seems to be very bright. Each floor is big enough to offer one large living space. The floors are entirely customizable and can be transformed into a different part of the house (a bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, etc). Some floors may be connected by stairs, others by accessible ramps. The area around the windmill can be transformed into a garden.

The floors are rustic with a simple layout and the furnishings are handmade and unique to each windmill. There is running water but no electric grid. No worries, the windmill produces its own energy. Each windmill can hold up to 8 people living inside, but it's possible to connect several windmills together to form a bigger living arrangement.

Goats sometimes wander inside. They are not destructive but they can be upsettingly eerie: they will stare at the occupants of the house for a long time. If they wander in at night, they will watch people sleep. Once satisfied, they leave to munch on some grass. Sometimes the free lawn mowing is the only sign they've been there. It seems difficult to keep the goats out, no matter the magical measures taken, thus some Spirits have accepted this just happens.
School Housing (Dorms)
There is always the option of living on campus at one of the schools in Folkmore. All schools provide standard dorms which can room between 1-2 people. All rooms provide 2 twin-size beds, 2 desks, and 2 closets for storage. There is a communal bathroom on each floor as well as communal laundry. Each floor has a communal kitchen but you can also use the school's dining hall. The dining hall begins service at 7am and ends service at 7pm. If you want any food after that, you're on your own! You can choose your roommate, be randomly assigned one, or have a two-person space all to yourself. Your roommate may not be the same age or level as you.

As for staff, you have the option of on-campus housing as well. You won't have a much better living situation than your students though. If desired, staff are provided with a 1-person suite complete with a full-size bed, desk, wardrobe, personal bathroom, and a small personal kitchen. Staff living quarters are separate from students. Staff live closer to the core of the campus while student dorms are scattered at the edges.

Dorm living isn't luxurious. It's close-quarters and can be a bit stifling and plain, but some people enjoy that!
