Daia didn't notice her backing away, but it's certainly difficult not to notice that pace change into a run as her voice is further away, telling him it's his problem now. For a second, he glances over his shoulder, then back at the creature, then back to Bocchi.
"W-wait!" he cries as he takes after her.
Daia's not a stranger to travelling to other worlds by this point. And if there was something he learnt, whether or not he was attached to the Train at this point, was that the worlds he was sent to often needed help. And if there's one of these creatures in front of him, there's probably more. And he doesn't want Bocchi to get eaten by one if he can help it.
He hopes he can help it. He wishes he was good at fighting, or magic, or planning. He's none of those things. But he's still going to run after her, even if he doesn't know what to do.
