Schooling in Folkmore
Introduction

[ School RosterMap of FolkmoreLocationsFull Navigation ]

The schools are a major element of our game. However, characters are not required to be students and/or teachers at any of the schools. There are no age requirements or experience requirements at any of the schools for students or staff. Characters can teach one thing while being a student for another. Characters can go to multiple schools for different lessons. Characters can join or drop from school at any time.

Characters cannot create their own school, but they can provide private, isolated lessons off school grounds.

Alter the form to fit your character's needs.

We provide general examples of studies on the Roster but please feel free to add your own if it fits the school of study!

Kuma Lisa Academy (Standard)
The Kuma Lisa Academy provides residents with the opportunity to learn a little bit of everything! This is an excellent choice for students who want a more traditional education experience. This school provides standard education between history, science, math, writing/speaking and the like. Anything you could learn at a traditional school, you would be able to learn at the Kuma Lisa Academy!

This school provides education levels ranging from kindergarten to doctorates. Students can graduate with degrees that may allow them higher social rankings throughout Folkmore. After all, education is one of the most common forms of bettering yourself! You can have focus majors that you would see in any traditional college such as psychology, biology, nursing, etc. This school is a bit of public service and provides something more familiar to some people such as school dances, sports, theatrical productions, and more!

There is a full gym, swimming pool, tennis court, and library stocked with typical educational books that you could find at any college campus. This school provides as many resources as possible ranging from public computers to coffee stands and study sessions. The school colors are burgundy and gold. The mascot is the fox Kuma Lisa.
Agrona Academy (Fighting)
Nothing will toughen you up quite like the Agrona Academy! This school was designed with the idea of perfecting combat skills for those who can handle the heat. This school is equipped with just about every training you could ask for. There are shooting ranges, standard gym equipment, an Olympic pool, a fully stocked armory filled with every weapon you could possibly learn. This school will hone your physical abilities and transform you into a master of your own body. Hoozah!

The training gets progressively harder the more involved you become. There are basic self-defense courses available for those who want a simpler lesson. For those more passionate about learning how to fight, there are plenty of options to explore and focus on certain talents and strengths.

This school will train out in the desert where destruction isn't an issue. One can anticipate pain tolerance lessons and other extreme forms of perfecting the body. The advanced lessons at this school are not for the faint of heart. The school colors are red and purple. Their mascot is a warhorse named Chetak, white with a flaming red mane.
Baba Yaga (Abilities)
Do you need to hone your magical or other super-powered abilities? No problem! There is a school for that too...But first, you have to find it. Baba Yaga is both a location and an NPC as she regularly walks all throughout Exile looking for lost souls or new students. Hopefully, you're the latter when she comes across you! They say that once you have gone to the school a few times, you will be able to easily track Baba Yaga among the swamps of Exile. Many believe this is part of the first trial she puts you through.

Baba Yaga will squat down when she finds you and accepts you into her school. Open that front door and you will be transported into a massive, beautiful school. This dimensional shift allows for people to openly practice their powers without having to sweat causing an accidental apocalypse! It seems like the space was created specifically to keep both the students, teachers, and the rest of the universe safe. You can find plenty of tools to help with your skills inside.

Baba Yaga isn't someone who talks much, but she does press her influence over those inside to help them figure out how to work with their abilities. The school colors are green and bronze. The mascot is a turtle named Morla.
Amrita Academy (Survival)
Considered one of the most critical schools in Folkmore, Amrita Academy exists to make sure everyone else can keep living. This school provides a variety of survival based skills. This includes growing/hunting/gathering and preparing food, mending clothes, fixing homes, general hiking skills, rock climbing, navigating the various terrains, and how to take care of the sick and injured. This school is filled with a variety of plant life to help educate people how to harvest specific crops for food and medicinal purposes.

This school helps provide food throughout Folkmore as well as healthcare. This might be the closest thing to a "hospital" in Folkmore through its medical department. This can be great until you have someone who needs medical treatment on the other side of Folkmore. This place can make extraordinary chefs, hunters, explorers, seamstresses, nurses, and doctors. There are no empty, baseless classes at this school. Expect to have plenty of real-world experiences.

Amrita is the physically largest school to accommodate all that it must teach. This school's colors are blue and silver. The mascot is a pegasus named Florence.
School of Thoth (Technology)
The School of Thoth is who you can thank for all of the surprisingly advanced technology in the area. This school is a juggernaut when it comes to its technological advances. Its students spend hours upon hours in the many labs of Thoth, experimenting and studying science and technology. This place is filled with unique technology and encourages students to be courageous with their designs.

You can find various chemicals and lab equipment at this school such as microscopes. Just about anything you could want at a science research facility can be found at Thoth. Many of the "students" are long-term researchers who will never feel complete in their education. This school is typically the one leading investigations in Folkmore. This is the only school that provides temporary sleeping quarters to students considering the severity of Wintermute's weather. Some students live in Thoth long-term to stay close to their research.

The architecture of the building was created to withstand the frigid conditions of Wintermute. It is considered the safest place you could be during one of Wintermute's infamous blizzards. The school colors are gray and pink. The mascot is a grey wolf named Togo.
Jewelia Academy (Arts)
Art has always been an important part of societies, and it's no different in Folkmore. Art is influenced by everything that surrounds it and many would call Art anything that would produce sensitivity in sentient beings. It brings all imaginative activities together, and allows all to view, hear or experience it in some way. Naturally, art is praised and respected in Folkmore, and Jewelia Academia will gladly provide all of that and more: it teaches all sorts of art one can dream of, including visual, literary, performing and even digital arts, among others.

The Academy can be found on the lower levels of Tides City, not too far from the city's port. It has an enormous campus, and unlike other academies in Folkmore, education levels are divided into several different buildings: Jewelia Primary School, Jewelia Prep School, and Jewelia University. This Academy has classes from the very basic levels - there are finger-painting classes! - to something much more advanced and specific - like Algorithmic art.

The city itself provides practical classes for those who go to the Academy. Businesses will gladly take in students and interns that wish to develop their artistic skills in any form or shape. It also has many resources for art students to make use of, having top of the line and fully equipped studios. There are many private rooms that allow students privacy to create, as well.

The school colors are orchid and azure. The mascot is Serendipity, the Pink Dragon.
Lavender Institute of the Mind (Metaphysics)
Lavender Institute of the Mind is found at the highest point of the floating island Never Fade, inside a white and red lighthouse with a single door. Once they pass through that door, students will find themselves inside a large dream-like castle that seems to respond to those who touch it: the walls shift, the colors change, and the path is cleared to direct the students to where they want to go. There is also a permanent sense of serenity and peace while inside the Institute.

Lavender's school can be similar to Baba Yaga's studies when it comes to studying magic, but it focuses on magic related to the mind, the being, and the soul rather than physical magical abilities the students or the world may have. Cognitive science plays a big role in this school that wants its students to understand the self and the unconscious through dreams, psychoanalysis, psychology, parapsychology, the occult, the esoteric, the ephemeral, and the untouchable.

The school colors are lavender and Persian green, and its mascot is a Black Capped Chickadee bird called Hazel.
