Joi can't help looking around, taking in all of her surroundings. The sights, the sounds, the smells. And the feel of K's hand in hers for real, not a carefully orchestrated pantomime. She feels real in a way she'd never experienced before, but had yearned for.
And Joi looks at him with surprise. "It's not?" Because everything so far has been wonderful. She can feel worry stirring in her, K looks so serious. Even more serious than usual. "What's wrong? I want to know. I don't want to be surprised by what I didn't see coming." She can be brave. She's been brave. And it's better to know about unpleasant things than pretend they don't exist.
Her eyes widen at the mention of death. She'd "died" before. The notion of dying again is truly frightening. And, the warning about the other residents also surprises her. "What? Have they done something to you? Hurt you in any way? Or--or dismissing you for being a Replicant?" All of it would be awful. She'd thought maybe she'd found somewhere she could truly discover herself, learn to live, not just exist. She didn't want to believe this rose had thorns, so she's deeply shaken at what K has told her.
The list of things to drink on offer is truly something amazing. She's been programmed to know all of them, of course, and have a general idea of how they're supposed to taste, but the prospect of actually tasting for real makes her rally from the alarm she'd felt at finding out that not all was perfect a bit.
When K mentions trying all of them, she can't help it. Her eyes light up and her lips curve in a delighted grin. "Yes, I think we should. One of everything for both of us!"
